We have a so talented team that even if Kobe wants out, the incomings will keep us strong enough to go for Championship...

A team is made by his history, players are a part of it. Nobody wants him to leave, believe me even he doesnt... He has the opportunity to be one of the greatest in one of the greatest team. Ppl love him, I dont hesitate to say I became a Laker fan bcs of Kobe. These superstars are a kind of communication between Fans and a team, the players make you fell in love with one team...In every human relationship, when excitement has passed, love remains. I will love this team even without him. Through him I fell in love with the Lakers. SO like Nicholson, I am now a LAKER MAN.

Nicholson was a WILT man, a KAREEM man, a MAGIC man, a SHAQ man,a KOBE man, maybe a SMUSH man also. So I Agree with him.

I actually caught that movie sometime this year.

This one quote jumped out at me.

["...and I hate those god awful timbs, damn snow shoveling shoes"] -5'9 black guy hired to kidnap Kennedy.

Personally, I dont see him demanding another trade, but I can see him being incredibly disappointed/pissed off.
if that happens he has the olympics to that his frustration out on the world

I understand your sentiment, but if you "personally dont care about players", I wonder if you appreciate at all how hard these remarkable individuals work to bring you that sense of entitlement.

first of all, i probably didnt clarify. to say personally dont care about the players, isnt a harsh hate for the players. its really in conjunction with the question posed vs. the team and its future. ultimately, the team is what counts, and the LAKERs have a longstanding history dating back to the 1950s. that is long before kobe arrived. and I would add that this franchise will continue to win, long after kobe leaves. so my entitlement comes from being a die hard LAKER fan. and the fact that players come and players go, but the LAKERS continue to win. and again, we have had great players in this franchise before kobe.

but the facts are there, kobe is not as die hard LAKER, as many of us are fans of this team. how so? hes the one who has threated to leave it! how foolish is that?!? we all know, or should know, that this is the franchise that will place him in the best position to win. but he threatens to leave. we have the longstanding history of championships in this league. but he threatens to leave. we are the ones who brought him in, and placed the pieces together to win 3 in a row. but he threatens to leave. hes the one who got into trouble in denver, while the LAKER franchise and fans stood beside him. but yet, he was the one who threatened to leave.

so again, as the topic of the thread, he wishes now to stay. great. of course, i'm all for it. but in the big picture, with him we will win championships. and without him, we will still win championships.

I think some of you are missing the issue. Kobe wanted a chance to win. With the likes of Kwame and Smush starting, he didn't feel he had a chance. Now, with Gasol and improved players, he feels he does.

That's the main difference between now and last summer.

you make some good points miles. but here is the bigger issue just to throw out there. kobe wanted a chance to win. what other franchise in the NBA is going to place him in that position? theres a reason why the bulls lucked out with jordan, and after jordan? the bulls and that franchise, are never to be heard from again. THEY ARE DONE! again, this is the LAKERs! after the spurs and their luck of back to back #1 picks, duncan and drob, guess what? they wont be heard from again after this run of championships.

but the LAKERs? we were the first dynasty in the league with titles in the 50s! this franchise were winners in the 60s. 70s. 80s. and today. maybe not championships all the time, but always in the consideration of a top notch team in the league. or a player here or there away! this franchise will continue to win into the next decade long after the bulls championship tapes and spurs championship tapes have gotten old and dusty.
