there is such a fine line between good chemistry and disaster...
it truly is the tangible "intangibles"/ mysterious unchartable aspect if sports still left...i think baron is one of the better personalities in the league, but i would be really worried about shaking up the band...i.e., see erik's beatles(forthcoming?) analogy...
i would really fear that getting baron would upset the chemistry gods...
see payton,kidd,shaq, richmond etc etc....
Baron opting out

Seriously, no way in hell Baron Davis is going to take the MLE in his prime to play for the Lakers. Just like there's no way in hell Lamar Odom is going to take the MLE in his prime for the Lakers.
Nobody's going to take the MLE in their prime unless he's named Vladimir Radmanovic. And he probably thought it was a paycut too. "I'm playing here because I love L.A. and I want to show everything that I can do" - I think those were his words, a couple years after he turned down a big ass contract from the Sonics.
Anyways, I just want to hear of a historical precedent of an all-star or near all-star caliber player who took the MLE in the prime of his career.
Let's hear of some sign-and-trades, three-ways, or something that makes sense, because this MLE business smells of whining and pining, california pipe-dreamin'. We're better than that.

I really don't think Davis helps as much. Possible injury risks, needs the ball in his hands, not a great shooter from the outside and I don't think that improves chemistry at all. And o yeah, not coming to LA. The Lakers aren't trading Kobe, Bynum, Gasol or Odom to get him (guys GS would at least need one of to trade Davis here) and Davis isn't coming here to play on the MLE to be on Kobe's team.
