Why Kobe will be the best ever

Post#1 » by Dexmor » Thu May 29, 2008 6:15 pm

Do you guys think Kobe will be considered as good as Michael Jordan. Most of you guys know I think Kobe is better then Jordan already but most experts think Jordan has a slight edge and a few think they are tied I would assume although nobody so far has had the balls to say it on national television.
If he does win the ring he will have 4 rings by the age 29. With Phil Jackson, Andrew Bynum and Gasol on his team and Odom finally looking like he might reach his potential or at least become a consistant star although he will never be an allstar (he is like a better version of Prince in the sence that Prince is a great player but never will be an allstar) it is very likely the Lakers and Kobe will win another championship and Kobe will end up with a minium of 5 rings imo assuming they win 1 this year.
The knack on Kobe in comparison to Jordan has always been Kobe has the same individual talent and skill but isn't as smart and doesn't make his teammates better. Now he has not only got the mvp but he got it because he makes his teammates so much better. I believe the people who said Jordan was smarter then Kobe were wrong. Kobe just didn't have the teammates Jordan had but he does now. Kobe has become the best leader in the league.
Besides pg's and the fact that Shaq is basically average now Kobe is the best player in the league at making people better and making the game easier for them and that includes Lebron. Lebron is an excellent playmaker and passer but I believe Kobe is just as good at that but just doesn't get the credit for it. I think he would average alot more assists if they didn't run the triangle because so many of his passes lead to a pass that leads to the bucket because of the triangle. He is just a good of a passer and ball handler.
So with all that said and the fact that he has been the best player in the league for 4 years handsdown although imo it has been longer then that.
After Kobe wins it all this year what is MJ really better at then Kobe? The only thing is he has bigger hands so he was a little better palming the ball which is helpful but that is it.
I think after this year assuming they win you have to put the order of best like this

Kobe
Jordan
Magic
Lebron (I think Lebron is clearly the better talent the Magic and will be 3rd but just like Kobe has to win this 4th ring to be considered better Lebron has to lead his team to a championship but we all know he will when he goes to the Nets and is playing in Brooklyn and has teammates. Lebron made it to the finals with no teammates so when he has a 2nd and 3rd option the Nets vs Lakers is gonna be a yearly thing. Once Lebron wins a ring I would be able to say he is better then Magic because he is clearly the better talent he just needs to earn it.

Why he is not gonna be overtaken by Lebron:

Lebron imo at 6'8-6'9 and 265 and the fact that he is as fast as almost anybody in the league and he can play 4 positions and there has been no player ever like him. He can be MJ 1 day and Magic the next. He really is like a cross between the 2. The fact that he is much bigger then Kobe/Jordan and just as athletic and fast and much stronger then both he is the best overall talent ever.
The reason why he will never pass Kobe/Jordan imo is because I think he doesn't have the work ethic of Kobe/Jordan. Lebron has a great work ethic and maybe top 5 in the league but he is not obsessed and doesn't have the work ethic of the 2.
The Spurs figured out a way to stop Lebron which is what the Celtics did. That wouldn't have worked on the 2G (2G means Kobe/Jordan, it stands for the 2 gods)but it might have worked on them at age 23. But if it did work on them at 23 2G both would have worked the entire summer on how to prevent that by perfecting the midrange jumper. Jordan lost his athletism and became the best midrange jumper ever to stay the best player. Kobe if stopped because the drive was taken would have came back the next season and would have had that jumper perfected. Lebron didn't do that. I don't know if Lebron spends to much time on trying to make money or players with that work ethic only come around 2 every 20 years or so. Kobe was also able to add the 3 to his game after those Jazz misses and that is something Jordan was not able to do. His 3's were off.
If Lebron doesn't come back next year as one of the best midrange shooters or at least a 40% 3 point shooter he will always be second best until Kobe retires at age 40 or so and Lebron will always be third of best of alltime. He is so good that he could probably just play when there is a game practice during practies and still be the third best player off alltime.

Is this the bi-weekly "Kobe > Jordan" thread, once again, Dexmor?

You should take this to the player comparison board. You'll get a more objective view on Kobe's all-time rank, over there.

These threads are annoying. Can we count them as spam?

Relax guys if you don't want to talk about it then just don't read it. It really shouldn't bother you.
And 2 posts does not make it a bi -weekly thing.
Also this should go on the comparison board if I was doing a Odom vs RJ post or something like that but this is totally in context. The Lakers have a very good shot at getting a championship so the talks will start. It's when the topic should be brought up.
Unless the other threads are just so great or you have something else better to do why don't you just discuss the post instead of critizing it?
Sometimes I think Tommy Trojan I think is the only one who thinks for himself.

Dexmor reminds me of Vic the brick from the Cannons. I wonder if Dex owns a Lakers poncho.

Yes I am gonna post it there since you guys are probably to upset with it's placing then it's topic.
It also is still relevent here because of whats going on. If I posted this 3 months ago it wouldn't have been right although it still would be in a way because it is Lakers.
I still think the people here are a little on the up tight side.

Dont worry about that, I didnt read it.

I also dont need you making such ridiculous comments about " thinking for themselves"

If you have an issue with what I or EE say, take it up via PM. Lord knows we have tried that with you to no avail.

I have a better idea. Post this on the Comparison board. Let the BSPN fools do the comparisons. We don't have to stoop to their idiotic level.

[color=blue]Dexmor, I'm locking this because it's redundant, spam-like, it causes massive resentment towards you. You're also back seat modding enough to warrant a warning. It would be one thing if you brought something new to this thread each time you re-post it.

And, no, game four did not make it the time to discuss Kobe vs Jordan
