and do a search for "best ___" whatever you like to eat, like hamburgers etc... also do a search for New york and you'll get other new yorkers asking where to go. etc...

my friends from NYC seem to like "the grove" it's an outdoor shopping mall
they like going to runyon canyon for a hike and for the view. Also go to the beach. They like to see things they can't really see or do at home.

if you like the grove, come to glendale. they just built something called the Americana and the presentation of the place is actually beautiful. It's right next to the Glendale Galleria so if you don't find anything there, you'll at least have the mall to fall back on. Glendale is only like 15 min away from Hollyweird too

there's a place called Spearmint Rhino. The drinks are pretty good. A little pricey but the scenery is great! a good late night spot to hit.

Think you misread that one.

I guess it's all a matter of preference? I always thought LA's mexican food was authentic, but then what do I know, I'm Korean. Attention Lakers forum Mexicans, we could use your input on this one.

PS: Those Jersey breakfast dogs look freakin ridiculously delicious. I WILL hit that up next time I'm in Jersey.

Mexican food:

Garibaldi, 100041 Laurel Canyon Bvld. Pacoma or

Mexican Food on corner of San Fernando Mission and Balboa Blvd.
My preference. Niether is dinning experience but cheap.

Tito's is okay Americanized tacos but the salsa is weak.

I'm sure there are a few places that offers really good authentic mexican food...but for L.A., you'd think there would be more. Even the taco stands, the small places here and there that are OK, are more authentic, they still weren't as tasty as some of the places in NY. Actually, I found that taco trucks usually offer more authentic and tasty tacos.

NYC has some B.S. mexican food too, ugh Blockheads, but they also have awesome places like this:

Image

You walk through this grocery, in the back is a grill and some seating, facing a TV with either futbol, wrestling, or color-saturated soap operas (with hot girls).

There are no tourists, nobody looking for nacho cheese. It's full of mexicans and people in the know.

And you can order greatness like a sope de carnitas:

The grilled thick tortilla on the bottom, the juicy beans, the golden crispy carnitas, the crema, it's unbelievable.

This place also offers goat, lengua, cabeza, suadero, tripa, oreja. Can't find too many of those in L.A.

5 guys burger? Do we really want to eat at a place called 5 guys burger?

Just kidding. I found they have a location close by. I will eat there, take a few pics, and upload them here by the end of the week.

Good choice. If you like Mexican food I recommend El Sombrero and if you're loaded McCormick and Schmick's (If it's good enough for Kobe, it's good enough for me! But seriously, it's good).
