Odom + 1st rounder for Prince?

I think it would be great for the lakers to get some more D and give up some O. It would also make sense to respectivly have Odom starting on another team, rather (if this is the choice made) than comming off the bench.

I would love for my raptors to get prince but we dont have the pieces, but what do u guys think about that trade?

It would be fair deal straight up, I think Prince can be better then Odom offensivley but Odom is more vesatile and he is a consistent double digit rebound guy unlike Prince. Detroit would celebrate if they could pull of that let alone another 1st round pick is ludacris. Mitch hangs up the phone after them adding a 1st round pick??

Joe Dumars:Hey a got a deal Prince for Odom
Mitch:Hmm..Odom is a better rebounder, and Prince is very talented though could improve idk
Joe Dumars:If you just add a 1st round pick he is yours
Mitch:You have got to be kidding right? You think I am some kind of MORON!! (Slams down phone in disgust)
I don't think I Trust The Process anymore! :banghead:

The pick goes our way if we are to make this trade IMO. We're clicking on all cylinders, so don't see the need for a big move like this unless it's a slam dunk for us

As a Laker fan I see no need make any move potentially disrupting immediate NBA title potential.

Honestly though as a NBA fan a think it would certainly be fair deal, even a potentially incredible one for the Lakers in the long run. Prince is young prototype SF, his defense is far above average if not excellent and has a consistent shot (perhaps DET best in the playoffs) and athleticism. He is efficient and extremely consistent in all regards and does not require the ball to get going. He can also cover any position from 1-4 IMO, and well allowing Kobe to roam. Our overall team defense with Bynum could potentially be ridiculous, like all time ridiculous and everybody can play their nature positions.

The kicker is he has a couple years left at ~10 Mil also, that will save money if package right with Odom.

The 1st rounder, if we even own a tradeable one, is inconsequential to this team right now if we re-sign internally and get minim level veteran help later.

Problem is, why does DET do this? To free up $$? Not likely, as they either have to make a run at a title now or blow it up and somehow find semi fair deals for like 4-5 veteran guys? I don't see it from their perspective, although I'm sure Lamar could beast on the boards in a soft eastern conference.

I've actually proposed this trade in the trade forum long time ago but the fans say Prince is future of Detroit. He is a winner, clutch player, guards 1 to 3 all defense, and young. He's extremely desirable player for any team and especially for us that will lack SF position.

I would do this trade in a heartbeat 3 months ago, but with the way Odom has been playing. It's hard to decide.

It's amazing the lack of credit Odom gets around here. Odom doesn't have an aesthetically pleasing game, and he's regular trashed and devalued for it.

Odom's game has been identical since he got here, the team is better all around with another all star caliber player (Gasol), and the team is winning now. That is the only difference.

It really is hard to think of a trade that will benefit us because our team is playing so well. Granted Prince is actually one hell of a player and Odom has shined since he is playing alongside Gasol. But my biggest concern is LO's Jumper. He really isnt that consistent compared to Prince. But it is LO's final year and if he is willing to sign for less then I am all for it, just so that the chemistry isnt broken. But i will still say that we should still wait to see how we all play with Bynum before deciding to trade anything.

The reason why is 2 things

1.Odom used to be inconsistant
2.Alot of people who will turn out to be dead wrong think Gasol and Bynum might struggle to play together

That is the reason people talk about trading Odom. I used to be one of these people because of the 1st reason and I was wrong. We should keep Odom as long as he gets to be the 3rd or 4th option and not 2nd we should keep him. He is awesome.

The Pistons are looking to rebuild I guess or at least get different players more hungry players which I think is smart. I would have traded Wallace a long time ago and trading Billups is perfect because they have Stuckey and Billups is 32 and about to be on the decline.
Prince I don't think will be traded though. Maybe a Billups and Prince for Melo or something like that.

Wow, I wouldn't trade Prince for Melo straight up at this point.

Melo has a bad attitude, no defense and gets or will get paid like a franchise player...yuck!

Prince isn't exactly old and by the way the pistons utilized him in the playoffs he could be one piece that they really want to keep in the rebuilding process so i dont think that the unreliable odom and a late first rounder could relieve the pistons of a young talent with championship experience

Idk why people keep trying trade Odom. NO OTHER TEAM in the NBA will boast a bigger front court than the Lakers next season, 2 7 footers and a 6'10 guy as your sf? c'mon itz too good! They're all great rebounders too! Odom is the one who's always hyping us up during games, you've all seen it! he's that guy on the team who can make the Lakers push to redline! Forget finding Kobe a "Pippen" Jordan and Pippen were Jordan and Pippen, Kobe will be Kobe, Bynum, Gasol and Odom... Jordan NEVER had it that good. You've got four potential all-stars there and a definite hall of famer. Though Prince for Odom seems great on paper, we don't need Prince, what Prince brings is less than what Odom give US. We have to stop trying to see what players bring to teams and start seeing trades that bring benefits to OUR TEAM!

Odom deserves to get re-signed along with Bynum and Sasha, if Walton got a contract bigger than his play than i'm sure we can give Odom the right money. He loves LA, the support LA gives him has been unmatched in his life and that's why he DESERVES to stay in purple and gold. Odom's not playing for his colors, he's playing for HIS FIRST RING!!!

GET THAT STRAIGHT! AND LET'S GO LAKERS!!!

Having size is great and all but too much of any thing never good. Having too much size kills the spacing of the floor. But then again we dont have to put everyone on the floor at the same time.

I would do Odom+Ariza for Prince+McDyss. Prince is a better fit with the twin towers+we save 5 million dollars after the 08-09 season when McDyss's contract expires. We dont have to worry about convincing LO to take less money, less minutes and come off the bench. Better off just paying Prince his 9 million per season to handle the three spot. Makes perfect sense.
