2 essentials for Game 3

Post#1 » by Gus McCrae » Tue Jun 10, 2008 3:15 pm

Two things I've noticed that I think the Celtics are praying we don't do:

1) we should go to Gasol everytime until he starts shooting under 50%.
just continually dump it into him, let Gasol command the double team

2) Fisher should play back on Rondo. Rondo does not want to shoot and he's just running around looking for assists and hustle plays. When fisher plays close, rondo burns him, our interior collapses and Rondo hands it off.

If we stick with Gasol and treat Rondo like what he is, a non-shooter, I think we can win not only game 3, but the series. We have to exploit their weaknesses.

Good points... but this should be in the game thread. Right Phil and Kno?

but ya gasol needs to be more of a focus on offense, they didn't really have an answer for him early in the game, and i don't know why we didn't keep going to him

and of course we need to pick up the intensity of the game as Boston did at home.

1. Paul Pierce needs to be neutralized. Shut him down a swarm on him like they do Kobe. What is needed a better team defense. don't let him shoot. Put Ariza on him in the outside and Radman, Walton on him when he is inside. * He seems to be the Heart of Boston . Especially in the 2nd half shut him down.

2. Keep up the same defense on KG. Force KG to beat you in the 2nd half when he is tired and worn down. Don't let PP shoot it in the 2nd half. don't let him shoot in the 1st half when he is fresh let him shoot in the 2nd is what I mean.

3. Keep a strong D on Allen

4. Stick a body on Powe when he comes him and really stick to him.
Ariza would be good cause he is long and athletic enough.

The Offense will come at home but it is the D that needs to arrive to win the 3 games.

1. i don't think we have the personnel to neutralize pierce, better team defense would help but he is too good of a player to be completely stopped by us

2. kg didn't have a good shooting game in game 2, so that was good, keep that up

3. agreed, hopefully he goes cold on the road

4. don't know about this, i think powe is too big for him and would eat him alive in the post

Player rotations. The one thing I can't think about while Phil is the coach. To me he has a weakness with that. Of course Fisher should be on Rajon and Ariza and Jordan need more pt and Gasol does need the ball more. Phil wins so I can't say anything bad about him but if you can take all his plus's but let somebody else do the rotations that would be awesome.

I say we take away some of Radman's minutes and give them to Sasha, Farmar and add some Ariza.
