The NBA is a big league with a lot of teams...
Farmar could definately start on a lot of them.
I'm not sure he shoud be starting on a championship team... Especially one that runs the Triangle...
I was dissappointed when he and Machina were arguing over the ball in game 3, and then he took an isolation 3 and clanged it... Sasha had the hot hand, get him the damn ball. That's that a point gaurd does.
I think Farmar has a ways to go in the Maturity dept before he could start on this team. I also don't feel he really has developed his nitche with the team yet either. He kind of plays like a shooting gaurd in a PG's body.
He has some work to do but I have my doubts if he will ever present the asset to the team that maybe someone with greater physical gifts might provide.

Offensively, I see Jordan developing into a fine player. Other than the fact that he's not really a playmaker, there's not much he can't do. Nice range, can finish around the rim, I also love his confidence and his aggressiveness.
Biggest problem I notice, by far, is his defense. To say he struggles is an understatement. The main thing I notice is how slight and weak he is. Trying to imagine him D'ing up on Deron Williams for 40 minutes gives me the cold sweats.
He's going to have to really pick it up at that end if he's going to be a legitimate NBA starter.

right now, hes a poor man's tony parker with better 3pt shooting
the timing between fisher's retirement and farmar's promotion will coincide perfectly
right now, theyre playing about equal minutes in the regular season with fisher getting more clutch minutes
Tony Parker is the toughest PG in the league to guard, so underrated, just a winner. The Lakers did a pretty good job on him for once. He was blowing by CP3, probably the best PG in the league. Poor man's TPark is not a fair comparison IMO.
JFarmar has got to drive more to convince me he's arrived I just don't see that as much as I'd like if you want him to start. He seems to play restrained at times, fear of making a mistake possibly. Maybe PJax keeps him in check, who knows. But Farmar is a great kid, a tireless worker, and a nice fit on the Lakers. No one likes my Sasha at the 1 idea huh? You think Sasha is solely a backup 2?

Whether he starts or not next year doesn't matter.
What's more important is that his minutes will likely continue to gradually increase over the next season or 2. He played 15 MPG as a rookie, and 20 MPG this year. Next year will likely be 25 MPG (or more.)
His mantle will be gradually passed from Fisher to Farmar, regardless of when Farmar actually becomes the starter. Both add value to the team.
Sedale made a good point about his defense, but I think he will improve in that area, he has the physical tools. He has to learn to apply the same focus and intensity on defense that he does on offense (Sahsa can pass some of his new-found wisdom on that.) It was pretty bad watching him try to guard Deron Williams, him and Fisher were like night and day with that particular matchup (because Fisher is one of the few PG's that matches up with Deron's strength.)

I think his shot, speed, and D are fine... he needs to dedicate his offseason to making passes. His pinpoint passing sucks something awful. He can't put in on the money. He improved his 3 last year, if he puts that kind of work into his passing he'll be everybit as good as Damon Stoudamire if not better.

Now THAT'S a good comparison. I was trying to think of a better one than Tony Parker while reading these posts and Damon Stoudamire is it. Not the Raptors Damon, but the one that went to Portland.

Yes.... in 2009-10 after Fisher retires.
He'll have 3 years of Tri under his belt, two learning from the master DFish. He'll still only be 23 (!) then. I see a productive future for Farmar and Bynum growing together into the post Kobe years.
