I think its pretty clear the reason they might be weary about giving him the max is because of his age.

It's hard to give someone $67 million guaranteed at age 35 and 36.

I would guess they would try to pay him less...

Maybe $23-$25-$25-$25-$25-$25(Team Option)

I could see them living with a contract paying him a flat $25 mil per... especially if they get a team option for age 36.

But I'm not sure they'd want to give him the FULL MAX at his age.


It's easy when you're talking about a player whose skills likely won't start to diminish until his late 30s.

but u gotta realize all these guys were putting up numbers before they got their contracts...30 mil a year is a whole lot of money...i bet those fans of those players u listed were saying they werent getting overpaid at the time of their contract because they were putting up numbers.

what im trying to say is...we dont know kobes future...we dont know that he is still going to be effective 5 years from now...cause kobe definitely lost his step a little.

Stephon Marbury and Kobe Bryant making the same kind of money never sounded good, not even when Marbury was sane.
