Maybe Kwame is good enough for 4 mil a year but to the Lakers that is 8 mil, which is almost as much as he was paid last year when they were chasing him out of Los Angeles with torches and pitchforks.

You guys can call him overpaid, but both Turiaf and Kwame are worth 4m when healthy. Why? It's relative: there aren't not too many capable big men in the league.

It's slim pickings from here on.

Exactly. As you and Ty have brought up our bench is sort of screwed now. This is why I started that thread about our depth chart. The Bench Mob has become increasingly thin. One injury to a rotation player and we're in big trouble.

This also puts a lot of faith in Chris Mihm. Either that, or we have a plan. I find it strange we didn't hear too much on our end about bringing back Kwame. I guess there were some rumors, but I'm not sure if I heard anything too serious.

My only hope is we have a plan. DJ or trade...here we come. (I'm hoping for the latter). DJ isn't horrible, but we need someone who isn't a novelty. A guy who we can play some real minutes. I guess we shouldn't have booed Kwame.

You win, Cakeman.

Mitch is kind of dropping the ball with free agent signings.

Derek Fisher/ Jordan Farmar/
Kobe Bryant/ Sasha Vujacic/ (Coby Karl)
Lamar Odom/ Trevor Ariza/ Luke Walton
Pau Gasol/ Vladimir Radmanovic/
Andrew Bynum/ Chris Mihm/

We're severely lacking with front court issues. I thought we were going to get tougher this off-season. So far, we've regressed in that regard.

NEEDS:

- Backup C
- Backup PF
- Veteran PG (insurance.. Lindsey Hunter, etc)

We still have to fill these 3 holes. I hope Mitch has some magic Radmanovic/Luke trade for a legit player to slide in the rotation. In the free agency market, who's even left besides 35 year old scrubs?

We're in trouble if we go into this year with that lineup. Our bench isn't looking good, especially in the front court. Too many injuries in a year to go like this.

Dropping the ball, yes....but we are strapped for cash. We have NO MONEY to burn, especially on a Kwame Brown!

Kwame was a good post defender.
Nothing more than that.

He had very low basketball IQ. He could not handle the ball. He could not finish around the rim. Laker fans were holding their breath to see this guy do something good for the P&G, and he did not deliver. I cannot blieve some of us actually considered resigning him this offseason. he just did not fit in with our team and I never wanted to resign him. Ideally we should have resigned Ronny but it would not have been financially smart to pay $17 mil for 4 years to someone who would have played less than 10 minutes a game specially with Bynum coming back.

I'd much rather resign DJ Mbenga. He is a shot blocker and hustles out there. I really like that guy as a third string back up.
Kwame will fit in with Eastern style basketball. He'll bang down low. They won't rely on him for points. Just a big body to play back up type minutes.

I can't wait to see how much crying there will be around here when Mihm and MBenga are forced to play heavy minutes.

Doesn't seem like Mitch is gonna offer the Bookie man a contract. If we don't sign the Bookie man at least, our offseason is a failure.

Who is the "Bookie Man"?

i think he lives on Drury Lane

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
