Giles is a 6-11, 240lb power forward/center. This is Pre-season camp signing.
Lakers sign C.J. Giles

Buzz Up PrintINGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA (TICKER) —The Los Angeles Lakers signed forward C.J. Giles on Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 6-11, 240-pound Giles, who played two seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks before transferring to Oregon State, appeared in 10 games for the Beavers last season before being dismissed from the team in late January. He averaged 6.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game at Oregon State.

He had a history of behavioral issues at both schools, which led to his dismissal from Kansas and once caused him to be benched at Oregon State for a pattern of showing up late to practice.

Here is some info from Draft Express about C.J. Giles

I watched him in summer league.

On the court is in the right place at the right time.

blocks shots, rebounds, fiesty. The team just signed a lottery talent.

Perfect situation for him with Coach Phil.

That's a pretty bold statement. (Pun unintended).

I doubt any of these signings make the team. Mitch is just trying to pad the team for Training Camp. I can't believe training camp and pre-season is just around the corner.

If you go to summer league archives you can see his talent. Check the youtube video of his workout with Portland

He is Camby like to me.

This team definitely needs a PF/C, kind of no depth at that spot.

I looked on youtube, couldn't find the Portland workout. Could you link me to what you've seen of him?

Click on the links for the TV coverage. The archives were working in August. He played the first 3 games.

The Portland workout appears to have been taken down.

There is another Youtube video of some summer league game w/ Nate Robinson. That's just running, jumping, and catching passes.

Just as an unbiased observer (I am not an Oregon State, my allegiances lie with the Ducks but I tend to casually route for all instate teams) that watched him play some of his games at OSU, the guy was in foul trouble all the time. OSU may have been the worst of the major conference cbb teams (0-18 in the Pac 10) yet he couldn't stand out there during his time on the court. It would have been pretty easy for him to get it together for a couple of months, put up some numbers, and have the possibility of a first round pick and guaranteed money but he never got close. I really doubt he makes the Lakers, or even finds playing time in the minor leagues or Europe. Don't get me wrong, he has serious talent, but there is something that is not there with this kid.

Thanks for the scouting report.
I have seen some clips on him, and I can see him doing well in training camp.
I mean he is quick and seems like he can work under P.Js rotation, all we can do is hope and see if he is willing to take this opportunity to get a spot on the roster.
But Im all for it.
