Good post, Farmar's got a lot of talent, and he looks mean this year.

Funny exchange between KG and Dwight.

I love Farmar, but it is weird that he was in this commercial....Those are all All-Stars/future members of the HOF...they did play in Westwood though, so maybe someone did call in sick.

I didn't even see those guys. Farmar was shown more than Tim Duncan or Billups (excluding the part on the phone).

Farmar's air time in this commercial is pure example of how powerful LA's big Market is.

QFT.

And you know that his agent knows it, too. Using Farmar is a gamble I'd take if I were Adidas. He's a winner and he loves to be in the lime light. If not on this team, he'll start somewhere else, sooner rather than later.

Knowing Farmar, he probably worked his butt off this summer to take the starter's role away from Fish. He looked like he bulked up quite a bit. His agent might even have sold him as this year's starting PG on the Lakers.

Actually, I could see him start on this team if he could improve his AST/TO ratio quickly. I'm not talking Calderon/CP 3 like numbers but if he does take care of the ball, his shooting percentages have obviously improved and he's a better play maker than Fisher so its his opportunity to lose imo. We could have Fisher handle guys like B Diddy and D Will but Farmar can more than hold his own against quicker PGs.

No it's because he's signed to Adidas, not because they wanted somebody from LA.

So, why did they sign him? Why not, let's say, Steve Blake, Luke Ridnour or Rafer Alston? Just to mention a few comparable players (ability wise)... Could it have something little to do maybe with the Lakers and their marketing pull, not only the US, but also in Europe and China? Why Adidas signed him is his marketability, make no mistake about it. Why is he so marketable? He's a Laker. As such, Farmar caters to one of the biggest markets in the US and also to the markets of Spain, Croatia, Serbia and China.

Hear that, Alonzo Mourning? Big advertisement money here in LA at christmas! We'll leave the entire front door open, not just a locker.

Farmar's has the potential to be something special. The work ethic is there, he just has to put it together for a full season. He has all the tools to be an elite gaurd in this league. If he played for anothe team there is no doubt in my mind that he would shine. Im really high on this kid and hopefully he shows us something this year.

Agree, Adidas signed him because of his high Q rating in the Los Angeles Market. Not only is he known for being a Laker, but he was also the face of UCLA Basketball for two years. He's an average player but his success in commercials and marketability has more to do with his relationship to Los Angeles. You put him on the Wolves, Blazers, or Charlotte, and he wouldn't even be doing commercials for Sit N' Sleep..... You can take that for the truth, or "Your Mattress is freeeeeeee!!! " :D

At the beginning of last season, the game against the Pistons was when I thought Phil was holding him back because of his chemistry and leadership with the second unit and Bynum to act just as a valuable bench player. I also remember predicting that he was going to be the starter as soon as the All Star Break rolls around.

He comes off the bench in a tight game and gets like 4 steals to turn around the game at the end of the 3rd and what could have been a tight 4th quarter just turned into scrap time. He harasses Stuckey and Afflalo and then hits some very important shots.
