There was absolutely no reason to lock the "let kobe go" thread in the first place, none. There was no flaming, just good GM/Front Office discussion between realgm veteran members.
The ironic thing (as a mod), you continue to get your point across about the Kobe situation, then lock the thread, and go on a lecture of how not to "disrespect the mods".
I dont have to disrespect you, you disrespect yourself with your lack of integrity, and your boneheaded posts and actions.
Who selects forum mods around here? I post on many sports related message boards, and I haven't seen a more sorry excuse for community moderation.
If anybody is looking for a message board with intelligent Lakers' discussion--that embraces all viewpoints, and welcomes challenging discussion about the front office and the future of the team, check out Lakers.scout.com. That's where I'll be posting from here on out.
You continue to debate the Kobe point, then lock the thread?

Think about your idea, first !
You can't be that dumb to think the Lakers should let Kobe go in orde to get better ! Don't be so ridiculous !

Re: You continue to debate the Kobe point, then lock the thread?
Kobe is a stud, I never denied that. I'm not thinking of next year or even the following year after that. I'm thinking three years from now, when his backloaded contract is costing the franchise $18+M while he's 33 and has 17 years of starters minutes on his knees--while Vujacic, Farmar, Ariza, and Odom have moved on because the team didn't have the cap space to keep them.
I understand if some people don't agree, and I appreciate those who embraced a unique viewpoint and formulated an intelligent counter to what I said. That's what good message board discussion is all about.
I think having key role players who are much younger, still progressing, and far more cost-effective will be vital for the team's long term success. Even at the expense of losing a legend like Kobe.

6 years down the track, maybe this discussion is relevant
but let kobe go?? at age 31?? still in his prime???
sure, we'd probably regret signing kobe to a 135mil extension like 4-5 years later and killing our cap but unlike shaq, kobe's not going to lose his main weapon, kobe like jordan will remain relevant due to his skill set, guile and desire to win
letting kobe go when he opts out would only serve to cost the lakers millions upon millions in TV rights while he still can play, but also in jersey sales long after hes retired as well
trading kobe now let alone simply letting him walk and trying to convince a laker board that you're right is asking for trouble
