Lakers not going to roll the Dice

Post#1 » by laduane1 » Sun Nov 9, 2008 1:19 am

Lakers do not want the PF. I guess they have enough. Would always like one more big who can do a little off the bench. Powell is no Dice. Guess we are saving the 5.5 mle for something else. Lakers were a little soft in the finals, wonder would have this made up for some of that.

Just a friendly heads-up,

When starting a new thread to discuss Lakers related news articles, please provide a link to the news that you want us to discuss. At least mention that it's in the wiretap and give a brief summary. I was about to label this thread a BS rumor thread without a rumors-disclaimer, and so I almost locked it. No biggy — just something to keep in mind for the future. Cheers, EE.

Dice is going to go back where he's comfortable or maybe Boston. Yeah we do have the MLE to give him but question is how long would it take for him to fully understand the Triangle ? This is the reason we just can't go after everybody when they become available.

This is also why I didn't want us to sign Sun Yue, he useless to us at this point. These things happen every season, somebody gets traded won't report, buy out is discussed and player is set free. If we don't have Sun on roster taking up extra pay we make a run for Dice easy. Now we gotta watch him go to somebody, I hope he goes back to the Pistons I'll be pissed if they let Boston pull another trick like they did with PJ out the hat.

We should at least make a play for him. He is still capable of playing good defense and grabbing rebounds. He played the better against the Celtics than any other Piston did last season IMO. He would be a huge addition and I hope that if he doesn't come here, we don't end up playing against him in the playoffs because he would do to us what PJ Brown did.

If the reports are true that Denver plans to buy out the last two years of Antonio McDyess' $13.63-million contract and make him a free agent with the ability to sign with any team, don't expect the Lakers to make a bid for the 6-foot-9 power forward.

The Nuggets acquired McDyess this week from the Detroit Pistons as part of a four-player deal that included Allen Iverson and Chauncey Billups. McDyess has refused to report to Denver.

The Lakers have a 14-man roster -- one shy of the league maximum of 15. The Lakers also still have their mid-level exception of $5.59 million to offer a player like McDyess.

"He's a good guy," Jackson said. "He's a good player and he's experienced. But right now in our situation, other than just watching what's happening, there's no interest that I can call right now."

Give that man the MLE. He would be huge addition with Lamar, Farmar, & Ariza off the bench. He also works with the new D mentality that has been with the team this season. 8ppg and 8rpg, D minded, and hungry for his first ring. Perfect fit.

"He's a good guy," Jackson said. "He's a good player and he's experienced. But right now in our situation, other than just watching what's happening, there's no interest that I can call right now."

And Jackson is not an idiot. Since Dice is not bought out he can't discuss players under contract with other teams like that. It is against league rules. Ofcoarse he going to say that.

Smokescreen. He'd be great for us against the West and Boston.

He'll be a great addition to our team but i'm not sure about the mle though... I would have taken turiaf instead. That mans' energy is enough to sign him. lol

I'm pretty sure he'll go back east where he feels he belongs.. i guess we have too many bigs in the west hehe jk.

They don't need to roll the dice. They have all the right pieces. All they need now is develop that defensive identity.
