Looking at the Numbers

Post#1 » by Chubby Chaser » Tue Nov 11, 2008 9:31 pm

I know it's too early in the season to extrapolate any relevant information from such a small sample size of games. But I just want to share some interesting facts as to how we've been doing so far, take them with a grain of salt but they look very promising 8-)

Offense

Rank

1st..............106.8 Points per game
1st..............51.4 Total Rebounds per game
10...............45.4 Field Goal %

Defense

1st.............84.4 Points allowed
9...............38.8 Total Rebounds allowed
2nd............39% Field Goal % Allowed

What I am very impressed with is our Defense and our Rebounds. Scoring has never been an issue with our team the last few years, but our defense and our rebounding has been atrocious. Now that Bynum and Ariza are healthy, we are finally starting to see what our team is like at full potential. Hopefully we can keep this up throughout the season and secure home court advantage, because I can't remember a playoffs where home court advantage has been so important as it was last year with the refs blatantly favoring the home team.

EDIT: I figured I'd post the rankings of some of our competition around the league as well, just to keep an eye out on how they are doing. As of right now, it looks like we are the most complete team on both ends. These rankings are valid as of today: Tuesday Nov. 11th
(p.s. Sorry if this bores you, but I'm a big fan of Stats and rankings and I know there are a few people here who share the same interest as well)

Very impressive numbers we have thus far. Major confidence booster for the team to know that they're doing so well even though it's game to game...

i agree with you. Trevor and Bynum both being healthy has made us a major defensive threat. I think they've totally changed their defensive mentality as compared to last year. And yes, i also believe the home court advantage is a major plus to any team. Too bad even the refs see it that way as well...... :-?

Yeah. Utah is pretty solid on both ends so far. So is Atlanta. I see them making a lot of noise this year now that Bibby has gotten time to gel with the team. He's going crazy over there.
