This season is different though. The goal is to win the championship. As last season taught us, having home court advantage is important, not only in the West, but throughout the playoffs. We need the best record in the league this time around.

Thus, I can't excuse loses in which by changing the players on the floor, it could have been prevented.

When Lamar comes in he normally comes in for Bynum, then moves down for Pau. He isn't taking any SF minutes at all, and I don't think Bynum is getting enough Burn. When Andrew sits, he sits for a long time. Andrew is avg. 29 minutes per game, and I don't think this is enough for him. We are such a different team defensively when he's in the game, and when he's out we give up a lot more offensive rebounds and players start attacking the rim immediately on us. I think Phil is too committed to make sure Lamar is getting his minutes coming off the bench that Its hurting us and Andrew. I thought Phil would play Lamar more at the 3 but with the emergence of Ariza, Phil has gone ahead and give him the minutes (as he should) Anyone else feel that Lamar is getting too many minutes taking away from Bynum?

I think Vlade gets too many minutes... to me Odom should be playing 1/3 to 1/5 of Vlade's minutes and Vlade's should go to Drew unless Vlade is tearing it up and Lamar is too. I think when you take a starter like Lamar and make him a reserve, you absolutely have to make sure he's still getting plenty of burn. Lamar has been doing all the little things with rebounding and D and despite his low scoring numbers I don't think we trade him for one single player of his caliber that would play bench minutes, and we also don't need two roll players as a trade for him. I do agree Andrew could use more time, but I also like what we've done.

Gerald Wallace anyone? It's obvious that Lamar's services are just not needed anymore and is causing a log jam in our rotations. Ariza is better at SF than Odom and Pau is better at the 4. The only one that is suffering is Bynum's development. I understand that if the Lakers are playing it safe by keeping Lamar in case (God forbid) an injury occurs to either Pau or Andrew, but we should of traded Lamar for a SF that better fits our needs. I just hope that Phil is limiting Bynum's minutes just for the beginning of the season and eventually will increase his time to 35+ after the All star break. We just signed Bynum to a healthy contract, his knee is healthy, he's young, let the kid go out there an earn his paycheck. When Bynum leaves the floor, our interior defense and defensive rebounds drop immensely.

how the heck is odom causing a log jam? he's 1 of 3 pf/c the team is using. thats not a log jam

this thread just doesn't make sense. lamar has been playing around 28-30 mpg and the lakers are undefeated blowing teams out, they finally lose a game and he only plays 20 min yet now he's getting too MANY minutes?

drew is getting 30 minutes a game, thats perfect for him right now. on friday, a completely outmatched pau got 40 minutes, some of those minutes could have gone to drew, but to single out odom? thats completely unfair. bynum just isn't going to go out there and play 34-36 mpg unless you want the kid to breakdown at the end of the season. expecting that right now is just getting way too ahead of yourself.

yeah, i didn't get it during fridays' game. LO was on fire yet didn't log in more mins. Whatever works right? You wouldn't keep walking the same way to school if there was a better way to get there right?

I guess he just wants to balance out everyones' minutes. But i noticed Phil likes to let his players play it of their slump but it can hurt the team. Oh well.. our first loss. I actually wasn't really that bummed about the lost. A lost is a lost.. as long as we get to the post season on top hehe.

Always wonderful when you break the one-liner limit. Good post.

Lamar and Ariza need more minutes. And the player they need to take them from is Radamn.

+1 Good post dcash. 1 thing i would like to point out is although I agree that Bynum needs more time I'd like to see the big 3 line up but also Bynum needs touches with that time. He did stae he would be more assertive but we have to go in to him more so he'll have the touches
