Re: Phil finally asked why he doesn't start Lamar
He did grab 3 fouls pretty soon yesterday but played as good a game as I've seen from him as a laker. He stayed focused, rebounded and defended pretty decently too. I hate to keep Ariza on the bench but his activity levels suit us better that way and though he's developing a jumper, he's a pretty horrible shooter to be on the starting line up.

Re: Phil finally asked why he doesn't start Lamar
phil plays walton with the first team because:
1. walton is the consumate triangle student, reads defenses and makes the right decision the majority of the time (even if he sucks at shooting)
2. walton unlike ariza and radman, has a (rarely seen) post-up game
3. walton plays better with the first team (as seen by his dropoff in production with the second unit)
reasons lamar doesn't start:
1. 3 7-fters clog the lane, screwing up half of kobe's game
2. lamar gives phil the opportunity to play monster frontlines 48 minutes a game if need be
3. lamar plays best as a PF not a SF where he is too far from the basket to rebound

Chubby Chaser wrote:Everyone attributes to much to Phil's "masterplan" thinking. He doesn't really have master plans, nor does he coach with deception. It's not like he doesn't want to start his 7 7 7 lineup because he wants to wait until the playoffs to magically unleash it on our opponents so that they don't see it coming. Phil doesn't coach like that. He's not a deception Belichek type of coach. His style is more of a baseball manager where he deals with maintaining personnel. We're talking about the guy who runs the same out of bounds play every time (whether it's our last shot or in the first quarter) since he was with the Bulls.
that may be the case, but i'll keep believing in the "plan" because someone has to

I trust Phil knows what he's doing. His 6 rings (as a coach) is 6 more than I'll get in 6 lifetimes haha. And he's bout to make it 7 haha CHEA!
