Now I'm a Lamar Odom fan. I don't personally want to see him go.
But with the emergence of Josh Powell as a rebounder, knock down shooter and toughness. Is it now easier for the front office to trade Odom for a big time small forward??
I personally like what Lamar brings. He has a good defensive mentality and he's become a very productive player since we've gotten Gasol.
So my question to you guys is are we better off with Lamar being the 6th man or would you want a SF that we can start over Luke/Vlad????
Either way I think we are championship contenders

Re: Powell instead of Odom
With the way Powell is playing, I would definitely look at what's available for Odom in terms someone who can defend well and shoot at the starting SF spot. The problem, I think, is that we are so overloaded at the 3 spot that I don't think we're interested in getting another. If anything, we might look at getting a better PG instead, but we are not going to find anyone who can match salaries unless they dump a bad contract in return.

Re: Powell instead of Odom
i don't think that it would be wise to punch Odom's ticket out of here just yet, yes Powell had a great game, and is a good player, and i'm a big fan of him
but we do not know if he can continue to do this (probably can) or more important, can he continue to do it in a starters role, or a more minutes role, maybe he is a deeper off the bench option that sways a few games in our favor
can't go wrong with a little depth

i've been very impressed with Powell. Was actually bummed when Phil took him out last night to sub Fish back in. We went on a nice run with Powell in there.

Re: Powell instead of Odom
Powell is the exact reason why I wanted Odom traded since 05-06.
No, not because Powell is a better player but because a PF that shoots the mid-range well like KG, McDyssee, Haslem, West can do wonders for your team.
We really need a shooting PF that can space the floor. It'd increase Kobe's assist numbers and make life for him much easier.

Re: Powell instead of Odom
Fish should burn...he gets too much respect and he is overlooked of the bonehead plays he make nowadays.
And Im a big time LO as you all know, and he offers way too much to this team to let up. If anything, remove Luke and the other 3s minus Ariza and LO and see whats available for PG (Marbury!!)

Re: Powell instead of Odom
lamar will always be THE 6TH MAN
whether hes playing banger forward, point, wing and on ultra rare occasions, center; hes simply too valuable a commodity to give to anyone else, especially if lamar has already pledged his future loyalty and given a promise of a reduction in wages to win titles (i mean, as a FA in his career, where else to sign??)

Re: Powell instead of Odom
i still think he should start. once farmar and sasha return healthy, lamar should start and walton should dictate second team. so ur second lineup would be
pg- farmar
sg- sasha
sf- walton
pf- radman (till we get rid of him)
c- powell
this is a pretty solid lineup if u ask me. personally, odom didnt do so hot with farmar on the court, he started playing well once farmar got injured. it wont hurt to try this lineup. plus i really wanna see bynum, gasol, and odom out on the court at the same time. just to test things out
