Kobe: Will play through pain

Post#1 » by Slava » Wed Jan 21, 2009 9:23 am

"It's not fractured or anything like that. I'm happy," he said, according to the L.A. Times. "I just made a stab at the ball and I think I caught it at the right angle. I just felt it slide out of place. At that point, I felt like I had done something much worse than what actually happened."

"These [injuries] are things that you just don't want to do anything with that hand, let alone play basketball or pound the ball or dribble it or shoot it," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said, according to the newpaper. "It's a lot of difficulty, but it's a trademark of who Kobe is."

I really appreciate what Phil said there. Looks like his respect for Kobe is at its highest since his return.

Sometimes being a warrior is one thing, but being smart is also another thing. This is the regular season, not the playoffs. If those fingers gets injured any more on his shooting hand, it would be disaster for the Lakers. Okay, maybe I shouldn't talk about the playoffs yet. But, theres still maybe another week or so before the Lakers are gonna hit the road. Its better for Kobe to take his rest for the next few home games, and come back fresh when the Lakers head to the East. But sadly, thats just me

a dislocation is the sort of injury that simply requires rest depending on what type of joint it is

and it takes as much rest as it takes for it to feel "normal" again

but hey, if kobe says he can shoot with only 3 digits, he can shoot with only 3 digits

I wish he'd sit the next two games against the Clippers and Thunder.

our next two games shouldn't be that difficult. I think he should rest it eventhough it's only a dislocation. Things may get worst... who knows..

Or if he insist on playing.. . Phil should give him limited minutes or kobe should play facilitator at the point.

was there ever any doubt he would play?
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!
