Farmar has really made some bad plays the last few games. However, the win was nice.

Derek Fisher: 10 points. Zero assists. Zero rebounds. Zero steals. Zero free throws. One dimensional?

Farmar: 1 assist, 4 turnovers. Still hasn't matured into a consistent point guard.

I'm not happy about this position headed into the meat-grinder of the playoffs.

Not me lol. I mean I like them because that means we scored, but after every single play? Jeez. It kind of looks stupid, I'd rather him cut back a bit.

If I were to choose a backourt with a Tony Parker caliber player, but without Kobe as a SG, I'd choose Kobe as a SG.

Even if Derek had 0 assists, his presence down there is very important in my opinion. Derek has never been a great passer, but a bellow average one. But he's got other things which in my opinion are vital for the team success. Also, if they counted the assists like in Ice Hockey, I think Fisher's situation with decisive assisting would be much better.

His only weakside is his inability to guard quick PGs.

Farmar ?! I think next season is his last chance to prove something ! Right now, he's garbage !
If I had a chance to play at UCLA for a couple of years ?! :D
Man, you are in the Lakers roster, you have such a big chance to play for a great franchise alongside with Kobe Bryant, man ! You've got to practice day and night, all the summer to buy yourself a chance to stay here for a while, and you don't use it.

Farmar is trash !

^That's harsh!

I don't think Farmar's trash...I think he'd thrive in another system - up and down team, with the ball in his hands more. Even starter quality, in time.

Fish has a major role too. But I think he's better off as a backup shooting guard behind Kobe.

While our team is talented enough to maybe end up with the best record in the league, the playoffs allows opponents to pick a team apart and exploit every weakness it has. It's a little troubling to me, because ours is so obvious.

Well balanced game from everyone.. Honestly i had doubts coming into this game especially from a back to back but we prevailed. awesome game

Go LAKERS!

after reading through this it seems that PG has become a pick your poison with us. farmar not playing well lately, and that seems to magnify fisher's flaws because he has to be in the game more because of farmar becoming a liability on the court.

farmar needs to get his act together if we're going to at least attempt to contain the likes of paul, deron, and parker

Two great minds think alike. Long time ago when the Spurs had Ice Man, A-Train, Mike Mitchell and crew those were guys I respected but I still didn't like the Spurs. But I really started my dislike once they lucked their way to Robinson........then tank again to get Duncan, all respect was lost. I can't stand the Spurs and I love the mental torment we give them and their fans.

Farmar's issues are magnified by the fact that we're not getting jack squat from Vujacic and that our reserve rotation hasn't been consistent (particularly since Bynum went down and Radman was traded). We literally have no goto options out there on the 2nd unit, so IMO Farmar is trying too much to force the issue and as a result he's made some poor decisions. He's a good player, but when you play next to crap you are also going to play like crap unless you are a Kobe-caliber player.

^^ Agreed on that. With Farmar's talent, he should be our starting PG by this season but the fact that he tries too hard more than anything else leads to all the turnovers. If he gets more PT with Kobe, LO & Pau he'd become more efficient.

Re: Fish, don;t sweat on those assist numbers. I've observed that LO is being our primary ball handler alongside Kobe since he's been inserted into the starting line up. I think Phil prefers his length to get the ball to Kobe and Pau in the post and Fish doesn't even bring the ball up the court on half the possessions in the game so its hard for him to get any assists in that scenario. As long as he doesn't make turnovers and sticks to hitting open shots, I'd be more worried about PG defense than offensive stats.

Great game. The big first quarter was so beautiful to watch, it was almost magical, like music out there. Everybody played way above their normal level. Even Farmar and Sasha. Way to step up when needed. The entire team shone in that first quarter.

I kind of agree, SashAlex, though. I've always said Farmar is a very potent offensive player that doesn't belong on this team, in this system. Farmar's skillset is made for something like D'Antoni's offense. Let's get a trade going this summer, unless he suddenly starts playing defense on EVERY possession, in EVERY game (will never happen because he's too lame of a person, too high a sense of entitlement). His three minute spurts of defense do nothing for me. If he played hardcore defense for one full game, and maybe a reconsideration would be in place, but for now, I'd be willing to trade him. He's like a girl who thinks she's above hard effort and common decency. Get your effing hands dirty, and this fanbase will love you FOREVER. Angelenos work hard as hell on their careers, and they don't like watching lame ass defensive efforts and excessive dribbling, game after game after game.

Buck up! Play hardnosed D! Run the offense, don't dribble too much without a plan! Then, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat — on every possession.

I'm also so extremely tired of watching Sasha picking up mindless fouls on the wrong side of the court. It typically takes him about a minute before he picks up his first stupid reach-in foul. I'm sick of watching it happen, over and over again. Bench him for a week or something so he can start getting the message!

Man, that's what I'm talking about. Right now just the sight of Vujacic puts me in a bad mood because I already know what to expect (stupid reach-in fouls and missed shots). Maybe he'll find his shot when he's over on the bench watching Shannon Brown play real defense. :P

It's mind-boggling how Phil (and plenty of Lakers fans) were so quick to crucify Radmanovic because he had a few defensive lapses (all while being top 10 in 3-point shooting). I'm trying to figure out why Vujacic hasn't gotten the same treatment.
