Another example of good players being had for nothing. Roger Mason is another. Jamario Moon another. The list goes on and on. Josh Powell is great ... PERFECT for a cash strapped team.

Two questions though:
1. Is he and Mbenga signed for next year?
2. Who else thinks that we can find better and cheaper players than Walton, Vujacic, and Morrison this offseason (remember Powell--who, dollar for dollar, is way better than Turiaf)?

answers
1. yes
2. we might find them, but unless kupchak finds suitors, i doubt those min. contract replacements get any PT (much like powell earlier in the year)

NB. heck we should count sun yue as the min. contract guy for the guard positions

I think once Sasha and Luke are packed and long gone and we have them replaced with two decent players that can be consistant night in night out then this team will become not only contenders but a dynasty (The Three peat Lakers).

Agreed ... but if we were to dump them all (Walton, Vujacic, and Morrision) ... it'd be possible ... and Sun could play that backup PG (on offense) and SG (on defense) role that J. Kidd would run in the starting line-up if he REALLY improves.

Agreed. That's the only reason I keep talking about dumping them (Walton, Vujacic, and Morrison) so much.

Powell though, is a testament to the type of "FIT-players" that you can get for a bargain ... they will defintely be there ... especially that small shooter (defender of PGs), Fisher-replacement player (Salim Stoudamire/Head/etc) that we'll need at the end of next year and beyond.

Shaun Livingston could also help for the minimum if he can go at 90% or more. You'd have to sign another big-facilitator guard who can REALLY defend (Kyle Weaver type) to buffer against a possible Livingston set back.

Livingston's definitely worth the risk for the min if we have room on the roster. Hell, he's better than Sun at 80% ... you know?

Shaun Livingston? No. Miami released him and knowing their PG situation, you could only say that he's absolutely not close to being an NBA player at this moment. Also he did work out at a local gym in Peoria IL during his rehab and everyone who saw him there would say that he's not even half the player he used to be.
