NCAA vs NBA Refs

Post#1 » by vinnycorleone » Sat Mar 21, 2009 12:50 am

I've been watching a lot of the tourney and I like how the refs are letting the guys play.

I mean they are still calling fouls but when 2 guys go for the ball at the same time and one guy falls...they aren't calling it a foul. they are letting guys play physical without the ticky tack fouls.

on the other hand

the foul calls in the NBA are getting out of hand. Guys falling on the floor without being touched and foul being called.

Maybe the NBA should take a page out of the NCAA's book.

Reffing is a tough job... one call can make the whole world go against you or love you.. that's why i don't usually venture into this topic. But i admit, the refs in the NBA are more critical and blow their whistles more often... Maybe it's because of the brawls, coach complaining, and especially the scandal that happened...

IMO - i think it's harder to Ref in the NBA because you have superstars complaining, coaches complaining, the fans...etc.. hard to go thru the game making perfect calls.. Plus these you gotta admit.. NBA players have perfected the flop.. grab your defender towards you to get that AND1 shot hehe..

But watchin NCAA games are fun cuz the refs let it go more.. i've notice that as well. But if they allow that much freedom in the NBA.. i dont think we'll get thru a game without a pushin here and there hehe.

the nba game is way faster than ncaa ball, so much of the reffing is reaction to the players and sounds they hear as sad as it is.....

I can't stand all the chintzy fouls they call in college. I'm watching OU and Michigan, and they just called a charge with the defender standing directly under the basket. You see crap like that all the time. It's like watching high school ball.
