Anybody else notice Farmar refuses to pass to kobe

Post#1 » by Iamabeasttt » Wed Mar 25, 2009 7:02 am

or is it just me? I've seen him do this many times throughout the past 2 years. Explain.

I've actually seen the exact opposite many times. But then they go and run a P&R and Farmar gets a great dunk out of it.....so I'd say they're at most clashing personalities.

If you think about it, we're lucky Farmar has progressed so little the past few seasons though, because if he were any better they might have a reason to butt heads more.

I actually have seen him to it quite a bit, but that's a good thing IMO. Kobe doesn't need to touch the ball every damn time, particularly when he's having one of those 6-18 type games where he is clearly trying to go one-on-one like he did yesterday against the mighty Thunder who threw his stuff back at him time and time again.

Actually the OP is right.

I've seen it happen plenty of times. I don't blame Jordan. You can't give the ball to a guy who isn't gonna pass the ball.

Let's face is Laker Fans. Kobe's ability to shoot lights out is also his biggest weakness.

He has the ability to take over any game. He has the ability to shoot us out of any game.

I'd like to see Kobe pass into the post more in late game situations. Pau shoots over 50%. Give the man the goddamn BALL.

uh

they play basketball, it's a team game, and farmar is the point guard. there will be occasions where he does pass the ball to kobe, there will also be occasions where he passes it to others, getting everyone else involved, and there will be times where he will take it himself

it's the nature of the game

He's got to look at his first couple of options before being forced to resort to the MVP of the league.

I agree that Farmar typically doesn't pass to Kobe, which is actually what I liked about him since most players automatically give Kobe the ball when they bring it up. This is probably the best thing D-Fish brought to the table and there are only a few guys on the team who are willing to deny kobe. What's not good is denying Kobe the ball when he's in a mismatch (basically one on one or something like that.)

i have no problem with farmar not passing the ball. i have a problem with his -10000 basketball iq sometimes. i don't think kobe should touch the ball all the time. go through pau,go through odom. this way kobe will be fresher down the stretch. we don't need him to dominate for a full four quarters anymore.

 That's why you post a video about a 3RD GAME? You're gold man, I love it.

Though funny thing about both of those games, as SS pointed out, Kobe was having another bad shooting night (which has just cost him the MVP race...he's been chucking the past week, because why? Oh! because we don't need him to be the MVP this year to win...and I think someone is getting jealous).

So keep passing the ball to wherever the play is at Jordan. You're not paid to be Kobe's little buddy, you're supposed to make plays.

Oh and lamasomebody...use your youtube genius to watch the game you supposedly want to talk about, and you'll see Kobe refusing to pass to Jordan a few plays before.

Farmar has to run the offense. If kobe hits a shot, and on the next possession, is being defended by the same buy giving him anymore than two feet of space, Farmar would do the right thing and get it to him. But as a point guard, he has to get everyone involved. He's been so-so this season. Either way, most of the time, Kobe's gonna have the ball in his hands, so it isn't a huge concern, or shouldn't be. Not, in the pplayoffs, if Kobe's wide open and Farmar deliberately passes it the other way, that's one thing. But everyone knows Kobe's gonna get the ball. Farmar's been trying to do his best to get other people involved.

The OP is completely right, I've noticed this plenty of times, and I disagree with anyone who says its good thing; Farmar is a shoot first pg who holds the ball way to long...I'd like to see him creating and actually playing like a pg.

I'm pretty sure Kobe would have committed an "unnatural basketball act" in practice the next day.

How can he be completely right when the situation is one in which that they don't pass to each other? As of right now, our team is weak-minded. The only strong-willed guys are Kobe and Farmar. I think it's just a case of butting heads. Farmar's confidence is what makes him potentially a good player. If we take that away from him, he's Jordan from 2 weeks ago. Nobody wants that Jordan.

there is something to say about needing to develop chemistry and a strong identity with other players. they need to be independent and show a strong sense of contribution and a trust from the star player.

on the other hand, farmar refusing to pass to kobe is untrue. continue to do that and he will be traded immediately to another team. you feed the star and the team wins. so a gameplan of NOT passing to kobe is unfruitful and not healthy to ones career on a LAKER basketball team that has as its leader mr. bryant.
