Yes Bynum is coming back Thursday and we are focused on the championship but with the NCAA Tournament just finishing many players improved their stock in the draft and many players lowered their stock or should have lowered it. Ty Lawson should have played himself into the lottery and Wayne E played himself into the first round. Harden played himself out of the top 10 with his performance in my eyes.
Real Gm has the Lakers taking DeJuan Blair with the 29th pick. HMMMM?
I like Blair because he is physical and is a very good at getting boards. However he is only 6'7 and is easily put in foul trouble. Though I would like to see us add depth down low in the draft with one of our 3 picks (1st rd pick preferably) I don't think Blair is the right choice. Free Agency won't help us in that department. Gooden does what Powell does and Powell is cheaper. Magloire is cheap and I like him but not sure if he the right fit. Rasheed won't take the MLE and will not take an off the bench role. Brandon Bass is nice but Cuban isn't letting him go. So we are left with the draft.
If you were the GM who would you draft with the 29th and 43rd picks (59th pick won't matter & we know that)
I'm taking Jerome Jordan from Tulsa with the 29th pick if he comes out (if he stays I'm taking Hansbrough). With the 43rd pick I'm taking Wayne E if he is there because he will be a better shooter and defender than Sasha and be cheaper. If he stays in school or is not there I'm taking Josh Heytvelt from Gonzaga. He is 6'11 260 and could be a decent & cheap back up center.

Re: Real GM 2009 Mock Draft V2.0
i think you're underestimating free agency
theres probably no-one ready to contribute to this team, basically leaving free agents as our best bet
there are plenty of ring chasers that will probably sign for the min with the lakers; most notably jason kidd, anthony parker if you're looking at guards for example, surely theyre better than anyone we can land in the draft
that said, i know jack all about NCAA bball

Re: Real GM 2009 Mock Draft V2.0
As far as guards go there is options in free agency. However we need depth down low. Seems like every time we suffer injuries it is to the frontcourt. I believe frontcourt should be a first priority. Plus you forget though we are a experience team we are a young team.
Kobe-31 in August
Gasol-29 in July
Odom--30 November
Bynum-22 October
Farmar-23 Novmember
Ariza-24 in June
Sasha-26 March 2010
Our group could be together for a good 4 more years we just need cheap pieces to fill limited minutes. Not to mention never discount a late 1st rd pick. Derrick Fisher, Tony Parker,
Andrei Kirilenko, Al Harrington, Barbosa, Josh Howard, Delonte West, Kevin Martin, and David Lee were all taken between the 24th and 30th pick in NBA Drafts.

James Harden will be a top 5 pick p-dub15...............book it. I've seen plenty of guys have a horrible tournament and still excel to a higher draft pick. The Portsmouth Invitational is where these guys raise their stock.

I'm wondering if Blair might be making himself eligible for the wrong draft. He might be a higher pick in the one with the helmets.

If we have a chance to get Blair we should jump on it but we won't. You really underestimate him. He will have no problem in the pro's being 6'7. He is probably bigger and stronger then Ben Wallace. He also knows how to put the ball in the whole. Better version of Paul Millsap.
He could probably play C if he wanted to. You can shoot over him but you can't move him.

Re: Real GM 2009 Mock Draft V2.0
Theres no chance that Wayne E. turns into a better shooter than the Machine. i have to give sasha the benefit of Phil's inconsistency on this one. If Sasha is allowed consistency in terms of stretches of mins per game, then i think he will continue to unleash surprises. we will see more consistency in his play. I think phil pulls him out just when he starts getting into things.
If Wayne E is still on the board at 30th pick, then i would pick him up. IMO at that point, he has to be the most promising guyup for grabs at that point (of course no-one really knows for sure) .
We dont need a PF. I like Powell and LO. I would not get a big man to backup Bynum. I think we need a vet there - seasoned fella with good IQ. I doubt a rookie can provide that for such a championship squad. oh wth... DJ is a fan fave...keep em.
This laker team is complete is as it gets. Yah i know Farmar sucks now but With more time in the tri, Brown will be niiiiceeee

Yes the invitational is where they rise their stock however many of GM's, Coaches, & scouts take the Tournament as a big consideration. The tournament shows the player's clutch and pressure. You don't see that at the invitational. Harden did a nose dive in the tournament and ranking him with other draft players I think it puts him in the 11 to 15 range of the draft.. Yes some team will grab him in the top 10 (I only say 10 because chance some teams grab a need.) After that performance he needs to stay and work on his game one more year. Blake Griffin would have been a top 10 pick in last years draft. He knew he need to work on some things and he is now the #1 pick without question. Now I'm not saying Harden is on Blake's level but one more year and he still be a top 10 but would be able to bring more of an impact to a team.

I was seeing him as more of a Glen Davis than a Paul Millsap. Millsap is more athletic and when drafted the TNT crew was comparing him to Karl Malone because of his build, ability, and style of play.

Don't get me wrong I love Sasha but his inconsistency is on Sasha not Phil Jackson. The one thing people don't realize about the triangle is a player doesn't need longer stretches of minutes per game. The way the system is and with the way the Lakers can alternate who is the facilitator because of their talent and depth Sasha gets open looks. Sasha does hustle on D but is not strong enough and gets bullied a lot.
However, Wayne E is coming from being coached by Roy Williams. And he has showed a high basketball IQ. His ability to hit the 3pt shot with consistency and drive to the basket make him a better fit in the triangle. He also is a very smart and tough defender that would not get bullied.

Re: Real GM 2009 Mock Draft V2.0
Roster going into next season:
PG: Derek Fisher/ Jordan Farmar/
SG: Kobe Bryant/ Sasha Vujacic/
SF: Luke Walton/ Adam Morrison/
PF: Pau Gasol/ Josh Powell/
C: Andrew Bynum/
Free Agents: Trevor Ariza (UFA), Lamar Odom (UFA), Shannon Brown (RFA), DJ Mbenga
Personally, I hope we re-sign Shannon Brown (2m per season) and look to trade Jordan Farmar for a mid first round pick. Mitch usually always works out a "surprise" 1st round pick. He did a couple years ago with Brandon Roy when we had the pick for Jordan Farmar, late in the first round. I think that's going be Ty Lawson. A strong guard who drives the ball, I think Mitch and Co. will fall in love with.
However, with our pick, this is my top couple guys who will/might be around.
1a- Jeff Teague (Doubt he falls this far)
1b- Tyler Hansbrough (4 year starter, could come in and play well his first year)
2- DeJuan Blair
3- Patrick Mills
4- Nick Calathes - Florida PG, my brother is a religious follower of the Gators, and I have followed them as well. I think he would be the perfect triangle guard. 6'5", streaky outside shooter, boards well, passes well. Whenever Florida had success this season, he carried them. Needs to improve his free throw shooting, decision making down the stretch.
5- Darren Collison - Good, quick, defender. Very fast.
6- Dionte Christmas
7- Marcus Thornton - He can score from all angles.

Say TL? I see u want Trevor resigned.. But no LO or Shan Brown? And I feel you on Farmar.. Trade him. He starts off the season so well then he trips not even halfway through the season..Then again he was injured.. I was hoping the Lakers draft broozer type big...With AB,Gasol and Powell the Lakers are kinda small down low.. And I am not jinxing Bynum, but he has not played a fool season yet. *knockin on my head*.

Propz to Kno for the sig..
