Lakers second round pick

Post#1 » by laduane1 » Wed Apr 15, 2009 11:48 pm

The Lakers get a second round pick from the Kareem Rush trade. It is from Charlotte Hornets. If the draft order is correct. It will be #42. Will we be able to use this pick.

NBADraft.net does not show the Lakers with this pick, but it is in the 2 round trades.

I think the Lakers already got that pick, that trade was over 5 years ago. I believe Ronny was born from that pick. But I'll do my reserch.

kareem rush was traded for TWO 2nd rounders. the first one was the ronny pick that deep mentions, and the second one was 2008 2nd rounder that was later changed to a 2009 2nd rounder.

Lakers — Traded Kareem Rush to Bobcats for 2005 second round pick (#37-Ronny Turiaf), 2008 second round pick (amended to 2009 second round pick on 2005-10-26) (?-?) on 2004-12-06

This is why you didn't find it, basically it's up to the Bobcats on weather they release the pick to us this year.

I believe the Bobcats have already released the pick to us. There is a few things we could do. Really depends on who is still availible.

Ben Woodside PG North Dakota - guy has huge game.

Great article from Dime.

I wonder if these picks could help unload Ammo's salary onto another lottery feeding team. Now that Shannon, Ariza and LO are keepers, I wouldn't hesitate to package Farmar/Ammo/picks for a decent starting PG.

Nick Calathes ... I said it first. Please tell me someone has seen him play.

Calathes is a 6'5 point guard who can shoot it really well from three and is a breathtaking passer. He would be a sure fire lottery pick if he could guard quick PGs ... he can't. We really don't need him to with Shannon Brown, Ariza, Fisher, and possibly Jack McClinton on the squad.

IMO he would really thrive in the triangle as long as we have other guys to guard the really quick PGs of the world. He can guard SGs just fine.

In the second round (pick #42) --- Jack McClinton (6'1 senior, dead-eye shooter, future Fisher replacement)

With the 59th pick -- Antonio Anderson (6'6 defensive swingman, glue guy, a guy who could fill in for Ariza or Shannon Brown in case of injury)

Like who?

Farmar and Morrison equal out to about 7.5 million.

Who would take Farmar and Morrison and give us a solid PG in return?

Not being patronizing ... just asking.

It would have to be someone who values the five million expiring contract of Morrison more than anything.

i wouldnt mind packaging farmar/ammo/2nd for a TE

becuase it saves the lakers ~15mil on its own

that is of course if we cant package them with luke...

2nd Round picks aren't even worth any expectations. If they turn out great, then the Lakers hit gold. If not, no one will give a crap.

^I think that's limited thinking.

There is alot of talent out there and we could use cheap, specialized help.

Second rounders don't have to be gold (Arenas, Van Exel, Boozer, M. Gasol).

They can simply be reasonable facsimiles of gold.

Silver - Ariza
Bronze - Von Wafer
Copper - Turiaf

A guy like Jack McClinton can be a very solid pick if we have big PGs to team him with (Kidd, Bryant, Vujacic, Calathes, and/or Mardy Collins).
