LAL way to championship(trades in last years)!!!

Post#1 » by klemen4 » Mon Jun 15, 2009 5:48 pm

LAL won a championship with basically 6 players (Farmar,Walton, Brown and Vujacic played 10 to 13 minutes with noone scoring more than 4 points on average), lets see how a team was build?

Fisher
Bryant
Ariza
Gasol/Odom
Bynum

Kobe Bryant

2004-07-14 Shaquille O'Neal FOR Lamar Odom, Brian Grant, Caron Butler, first round pick (2006 #26-Jordan Farmar), second round pick (2007 #50-Renaldas Seibutis)

2005-06-28 Andrew Bynum first round pick (#10 overall)

2007-07-02 Derek Fisher waived by Jazz (Medical reason of his daughter)
signed unrestricted free agent to a 3-year, $14M contract

2007-11-20 Brian Cook, Maurice Evans FOR Trevor Ariza

2008-02-01 Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, rights to Marc Gasol, 2008 protected first round pick (top 3 through 2011, unprotected in 2012) (#28-Donte Greene), 2010 first round pick (top 6 protected) (?-?), cash FOR Pau Gasol, 2010 second round pick (?-?)

In short:

Odom came in trade for Oneil, also Farmar as a draft pick was a part of that trade.LA gambled in 2005 on Bynum ready to wait for him to became a player. They can thank Jazz for waiving Fisher, so he could return to LA and take care of her daughter medical problems. Trade for Ariza was a steal, when again they gambled on young player (NY,Orl). What can we say about Gasol trade, thank you Memphis...this was a key of their championship.

-Good draft
-Good Fisher signing, lucky
-Good Ariza Trade
-Great Gasol trade, lucky

And they got nb.15!

It is kinda sad how they were gifted Gasol. No hate on LAL, anyone in their situation would have accepted the gift too. More hate on Memphis for making such an awful trade to a team that already was really good.

You Sir Fail we traded A ton of cap spaces 2 first round picks a guy who would of been top 5 if was in the draft the year he joined Mem IE Marc Gasol who also happens to be one of the top young centers in the leagues who also happens to be a legit 7 1 300ish pound back to the basket center (You know how rare that is). Tell me who else offered anything close to that????

To Memphis from the Lakers: Kwame Brown (expiring contract), Javaris Crittenton (eventually traded to Washington), Aaron McKie (later waived), Marc Gasol, and a first round pick in 2008 (twenty-eighth pick, Donte Greene; subsequently traded to Houston) and 2010. And cash considerations.

To Minnesota from Boston: Al Jefferson (later signed a five-year extension), Ryan Gomes (expiring contract; resigned), Sebastian Telfair (expiring contract; resigned), Gerald Green (subsequently traded to Houston, and later waived), Theo Ratliff (expiring contract; later waived), and two first round picks. One being the original future first round pick sent to Boston from Minnesota as part of the Ricky Davis/Wally Szczerbiak trade. The other, Minnesota owns Boston's first round pick in 2009 (twenty-eighth pick). And cash considerations.

I found this on the Cs board.

From the Memphis perspective,

1) Cash. Helped pay off more than half of the $ owed to Kwame/McKie.

2) Marc Gasol is already a good starting C in this league and still young.

3) JCritt, turned into a 1st via WAS the next time Wiz make the playoffs (2009-2012).

4) They turned the first LA pick into Darrell Arthur their starting PF via trade w Houston.

5) They have the second LA first coming in 2011.

6) They gained 10 mil in cap space via Kwame/McKie and by not wasting it they have it to use this summer, plus they jetisoned 55 mil that was still owed to Pau.

Just quit it. Memphis didn't get robbed.

edit - Thanks, just got a new sig idea.

Should the Grizzlies have let Pau Gasol rot and waste some prime years (like KG did) to become lottery bound with very little chance at getting the #1 pick

or

Should they have traded a very disgruntled player who was tired of losing while saving $$$ and getting a better chance in the draft.

If OJ Mayo really commits himself to basketball, maybe he can be what Bynum was to us. After a bad season with a no-show in the playoffs, we picked up Bynum and he showed complete dominance on both ends of the floor after a few years.

Ignorant people are funny.

As opposed to collude with former Celtic player to gift KG to the Celtics. Shouldn't Detriot being trying to figure out where to trade Kwame to right now improve thier team?
