You know all my brothers on here have been more than supportive for this cause. GOD BLESS YOU ALL, but someone said WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH BASKETBALL. I understand him and I understand that this isnt a basketball issue, its a humanitary issue. its an issue about life and death, its about democracy and as MY FAMILY and my brothers are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan serving this GREAT NATION OF OURS for our freedom and liberty so are these young brave souls that are simply being overlooked since its not a Domestic ISSUE.

All I ask from everyone to just take a look at this clip and see for yourself what happened and what is going on in Iran/Persia and see for yourself if anything else matters in life than a human being being slaughter by a bunch of Idialistic animals for their own reasons and there own greed.

You ask what does this have to do with basketball, well you obviously didnt care about what was going on in the middle east before these same Islamic fanatics flew planes in our buildings and killed thousands of innocent people with no regards to human life, yet these same buchers that had involvement in these plots are the same butchers that are murdering these young freedom fighthers and these same people that are killing these young men and women are the same people that have no remorse or care for life or their own kind and they are now armed with Nuclear technology and Nuclear Weopans that Im sure they have no problem using if push comes to shove.

God Bless and please watch this clip.
Keep in mind there are some graphics meterial that is not suited for young viwers.

From what i understand from the nokia has basically installed a deep packet inspection device in the iranian telecom network..
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1245626 ... %3Darticle

Deep packet inspection is a common technology installed in almost all telecom carriers for data traffic.. It can be used for a variety of things including logging traffic(where someone visited), accounting traffic (how much data was uploaded or downloaded) , rating traffic(how to charge for the usage) and authentication (who is allowed) and authorization (what can someone access).

Without these devices most telecom operators wouldnt be able to run or control their business..

How the government/operator uses this equipment is a different story all together.. these are beyond the controls of the equipment provider..

Why do i know this because i work for a large telecom operator and with a similar device made by some other manufacturer.. For almost all non secure traffic if i want i can see logs of where , who when and what was accessed any time of the day... if i really wanted to..

Cant blame Nokia for this..

The only way around these monitoring system is to use ssl (secure socket layer) based technologies like https.

Nokia recently provided the Iranian regime with a "monitoring center" that enables security forces to tap cell phones, read e-mails, scramble text-messages, and interrupt calls. Nokia's new surveillance system has enhanced the regime's ability to crack down on dissent during recent protests. The monitoring technology is being deployed on a massive scale, with hundreds arrested thanks to Nokia's technology.

Nokia has a responsibility to ensure its technology is used in an ethical manner. Take a minute to pressure Nokia to stop immediately its contract with the Iranian regime, disable its monitoring center, and explain how Iranians can circumvent the monitoring system. Tell the company you will boycott its products and urge your mobile carriers to stop selling Nokia until it stops aiding the crackdown.

You can edit the letter below, which will then be sent to Nokia. (Questions? Email campaign -at- aicongress.org.)

NA I have to disagree with you, not that its the first time but here you go KEVIN.
We're talking about Iran Kevin. You didnt think that Nokia and Siemins knew that Iran is a totalitarian state and what was the means of their use of this system? Corporations and individuals are responsible for the predictable consequences of their actions and Nokia and Siemens was well aware of their actions.

http://www.dailyfinance.com/2009/06/24/ ... ntroversy/

A venture between Nokia Corp. (NOK) and Siemens AG (SI) mentions in its Code of Conduct that it will respect the rights laid down by the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The statement did not seem to apply to its business in Iran.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the European companies sold Iran the technology for what's known as deep packet inspection, which the paper says "involves inserting equipment into a flow of online data, from emails and Internet phone calls to images and messages on social-networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter."

The ramifications are startling, particularly given the prominent role Facebook and Twitter have played as Iranians furious about rampant fraud in their presidential election evaded the official censorship of the state-run media.

"This is definitely a violation of their own code of conduct," said Danny O'Brien of the Electronic Frontier Foundation in an interview with DailyFinance. A spokesman for the companies could not be reached. The companies have denied any wrongdoing. More interestingly, O'Brien also noted that for all of the technical sophistication of the Iranian censorship, it's not working since pictures and video of crackdown in Iran is reaching the world's media. Wired.com is reporting that some people are urging a boycott of Nokia and Siemens.

http://intelligencenews.wordpress.com/2 ... 15/01-127/

For about a year now, political dissidents in Iran have suspected that the Iranian government’s ability to spy on private communications has intensified, covering for the first time cell phone and instant messaging exchanges. Last Monday it emerged that two European telecommunications hardware manufacturers are actually behind the Iranian government’s increased surveillance capabilities. The Wall Street Journal reports that Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) sold Iran Telecom –Iran’s government-owned telecommunications provider– a sophisticated surveillance system, in the summer of 2008. NSN is an engineering partnership between Finland’s Nokia Corporation and German hardware manufacturer Siemens AG, Europe’s largest engineering firm. Siemens AG has several contracts with the US government, says The Wall Street Jounral, which also quotes NSN spokesperson Ben Roome, who insists the surveillance system was sold to Iran in order to facilitate “lawful intercepts” by Iranian authorities. NOTICE IT SAYS LAWFUL, BUT WE CAN SEE HOW Iran is all about being LAWFUL Interestingly, the NSN sale of surveillance hardware to Iran appears to be perfectly legal, as there are “virtually no restrictions on the export [to Iran] of high-tech equipment [by Western firms] that can be used to monitor or control free expression”.

5 sites to follow on the Iran election protests

http://timesonline.typepad.com/technolo ... ction.html

1. Twitter.com #iranelection

A flood of information is pouring out of Iran, from eye-witness reports from protests to people venting their opinions on the disputed election. For up-to-the-minute, unfiltered data on everything that is happing in Iran go to Twitter and use the hash tag #iranelection.

For the uninitiated, simply go to twitter.com and type #iranelection into the search. This will give you a stream of the latest tweets on people writing about the election's aftermath.

2. Revolutionary Road

LINK to one of my buddies that is right in the middle of this and this is as accurate info as you can get .............
http://shooresh1917.blogspot.com/

A blog from the front line of the protests in Iran, with chilling photographs showing the true extent of violence happening on Tehran’s streets. Please be warned, the images are graphic, but the blog is compelling.

3. YouTube

The videos coming from the protests are remarkable. See them by typing Iran Riots, Iran Elections and Iran Elections 2009 into the search bar.

4. Tehranlive.org

Blog that is providing a photo diary of events from the protests. The blog suggests it is now banned in Iran, but that hasn’t stopped it providing more pictures and video of the latest events from Tehran.

5. Reporters Without Borders

The charity is filing regular reports on press and internet censorship from Iran, drawing from many sources within Iran. A must-read for those seeking an overall picture of what is happening.

THANK YOU ALL.

WOW thats odd, my family has been trying to get a hold of my dads aunt for the past three days and there is no answer so we have tried several other family members and the samething.
Also the reason there isnt that high volume of demonstrations is becasue the one of the top Clerks whos a harliner has called for the excution of all protestors and they are exectuing people and torutring them and dumping bodies in Vanak and other places. People think this is a protest, IT ISNT THIS IS WAR, but the protestors are still putting their lives in harms way for freedom.

By the way your Parskahye??? SO am I. I hope your supporting this cause?? APRESS APHER.

A leading Iranian religious leader has called for the execution of "rioters" who have led a series of anti-government protests following the country's disputed June 12 presidential election.

Ahmad Khatami, a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts, told worshippers during a sermon at Friday prayers that Iran's judiciary should charge such rioters as "mohareb", or one who wages war against God.

"Anybody who fights against the Islamic system or the leader of Islamic society, fight him until complete destruction," Khatami said in the nationally broadcast sermon at Tehran University.

"We ask that the judiciary confront the leaders of the protests, leaders of the violations, and those who are supported by the United States and Israel strongly, and without mercy to provide a lesson for all."

Under Iranian law, the punishment for people convicted as mohareb is execution.

So here's the deep packet software that they claim isnt used for surveillance. People think that this is an issue for Iranian people, but here you go. The same software that is used by the Islamic Government that is now out in public for anyone to use. .

Tony, i am parskahye, i support the cause, of course

Persians from outside of Iran are calling family members that are in Iran alot so lines are busy most of the time and operator says that connections are busy or something like that

it was like this about a week ago when there was the most chaos. I think you will be able to connect to family now that it is not as chaotic

good luck
