1) Ammo (5.257) + 2nd to Bucks for Bell (3.603)
2) Farmar (1.947) to Grizz for TPE

Those 2 save another... 3.6 mil

3) Waive Yue before Aug 1

76.73
- 3.6
- .73
= 72.4

+5.6
=78.0

4) Resign Odom 3yr / 28m (8.75, 9.25, 10.0)
very fair, maybe a 4th year if he's willing to start at 8.0

5) Resign Brown 2yr / 4m (1.75, 2.25)
more than doubles his current pay

6) Sign the rook if he's decent in the SL, can't have enough bigs (.5)

= 89.0 reasonable and solid

Fisher/Bell/Brown
Kobe/(Bell)/Sasha
Artest/Luke
Pau/Odom/Powell
Bynum/DJ/Elonu

I was looking at this was the best thing I could find. Adam Morrison for Bruce Bowen and Salim Stoudamire. Lakers' get a shooter in Salim and they get Bowen who can play the two and the three, with defense to boot.

They are both expiring, like Morrison but can be useful pieces if the Lakers' where able to unload Farmar to Atlanta for a future pick, which could be done because they are under the cap.

Those moves could save around 2.5 million towards the Odom fund, plus not sacrafice anything for next year. The Lakers' don't want to add salary next season. This is a good fit.

Fish, Brown, Stoudamire
Kobe, Sasha, Bowen
Drew, Benga, Elou
Gasol, Odom, Powell
Artest, Walton

Nate is a good option if Ammo and JFar could be moved, but they don't have to move him to save 2010 salary. They can just let him walk so I don't think that is much of a selling point.

NY could get their 2nd back though which might entice them, and make the draft day trade look like LA 1st (Douglas), JFar, Ammo for Nate + 3 mil. That looks pretty nice from NY view.

The smallest Nate could sign for and make the deal work is 5.69, too much I think for him but do-able (might piss off Ron if we got another FA for more than him).
What if it was just Ammo + 2nd (upgraded to the Memphis '10, which will be top 35)... Then Nate could be had for 4.12, much more reasonable,

and JFar could still be sent to the Grizz for a TPE.

Like your trade but Bell got 3 yrs left on his deal and Bruce Bowen could spot at the two and three and is a 4 million dollar savings at this years end. Other than that I really like the Parker move for Sasha and Farmar.

The goal is to get Lamar in the fold for at least 3 yrs and find a starting point guard for next season either via trade or savings from salary. FIsh would save 5 million, Bowen 4 mill, Benga and Powell 1 mill each and S Brown maybe at 1.9 and Stoudamire 1mill That is 14 million saved next year w/ my deal.

Because of Fish and his pending retirement however, I think Mitch is really trying to get Nate Robinson. If they sign and trade Ammo and Farmar for him and give him around 6 million a yrs for 3 yrs it would replace Fish for next season and no extra cost this year.

Shannon 2 mill, Nate 6 mill, Sun 800k
Kobe23, Sasha 5
Bynum 12, Benga 1, Elou 700k
Gasol 16, Odom 8, Powell 1 mill
Artest 6, Luke 5,

About 87 million their, could deal Sasha for Bowen even. Bowen be a great back up for Kobe, corner three shooter and smart defender. And would drop 4 million a year from expiring.

The Lakers' wont have any signing power, being over the cap so much if FIsh retires so in order to replace him, with a solid player, they kinda have to make a move this year for his pending retirement next year. Or else move Odom next year for a point guard if Bynum finally comes around.

They'll have the MLE and Sasha's expiring to use if needed.

Bowen has lost it and Salim shouldn't be in the league. I'd much rather have Bell or Nate with Shannon for the next 3 yrs.

Salim is a filler.

Bell I believe has the necessary skills to really be a factor in the triangle and he's an understanding veteran who doesn't have much wear-and-tear nor a huge salary. The great thing is that once we re-sign Shannon, trade for Bell, re-sign Odom the team is set not just for this year but for next as well. The only other possibility would be ditching Vujajic somehow to Toronto.

So we're about 2m off with Odom right now? Sounds like a Morrison for Bell+filler trade is in order.

The bottom line is the LAKERS made the decision to either overpay or let LO go when they signed Bynum last year... As much as I would like LO back, I wouldn't pay $20 million a year for him over the next two years ($10 million plus luxury tax)... That is allot of money for your fourth option... If BUSS steps up we will be dangerous next year but I like our chances regardless... Artest and Bynum can do work when Kobe and Gasol are on the bench...

No doubt Jerry Buss knows how to spend and next season may be one the best in Lakers history. I have no doubt Lamar will be back, and Shannon, but I also think they will push hard to bring in one more veteran big like Antonio/Kurt/or maybe Leon Powe to stick it to boston
