Sun Yue unlikely to make the final roster?

Ran into Assistant GM Ronnie Lester, who is taking in the Summer League games here in Vegas, mainly to get a good look at Adam Morrison. The rest of the Lakers team, including draft pick Chinemelu Elonu, are little more than prospective training game fodder.

Morrison, though. has a guaranteed contract which means — barring a trade — he is expected to be back with the Lakers next season. And since Mitch Kupchak repeatedly has said the Lakers will carry a maximum of 13 players (yes, that includes Lamar Odom), which could leave Sun Yue out.

Lester agreed.

Sun missed last year’s Summer League because of his commitment to the Chinese National Team. He again skipped this summer’s play in favor of playing overseas.

Lester said Sun’s apparent lack of commitment to the Lakers and the fact he missed all of training camp last season because of an injury, doesn’t help his chances of keeping his roster spot.

“It does seem he is the odd-man out,” Lester said.

to be honest I think Sasha had the right approach to this dilema. last couple of years he dicided that he needed to prove himself as a player and stayed behind to work on his game to earn the spot on the team. now that there is no doubt that he will be back he will go and play for his country this summer. weather he had a bad season or a good season last year nobody complains about it.

you know... now that he has a ring he lost all his competitive edge. I just don't think he's hungry anymore.

We need to keep Sun over seas for a while. He is not NBA ready and he may never be. If he were to be cut free or waived or traded. It would be only a minor blip on the sports wire radar.

Cool.

With Yue out of the way I can hop on the busswagon as a poster boy for affirmative action.

It's my turn now.

O.K. now everybody was calling him the Chinese magic and saying he was gonna be good. Now are you guys surprised or were you kidding back then. Cause I never looked at him as an nba player unless you just use him as a practice player or something.
