Unless the Lakers make a trade there probably won't be anymore signings. My dream scenario is the Lakers somehow convince the Bulls to take Farmar, Morrison, and DJ for Hinrich with only 11 players after that trade I can see the Lakers calling up Elonu if he's in the D-League and if Udoka or Bowen are still available sign one of those two to be the 3rd SF. This will probably be a mid season trade/signing scenario.
GO LAKERS

Still think Gerald Green and Rashard McCants can not only be the best bench with Odom and replace Ariza but also grow with the youth group with Farmar and Bynum.

McCants would be a very nice pickup, he's crap for rebuilding teams but with the right veterans around him he could be a star. I think I already mentioned this but when KG was on the Wolves, McCants was one of the best defenders on the team, he's athletic, lengthy, can create his own offense, and is a knock down shooter, I would choose him over Sasha 10 times out of 10. I might go with Green or Carney because they can play small forward also, but I think McCants has the most potential of the three.
This Lakers team turns garbage into gold, pretty much anyone we plug in whether it be McCants, Carney, or Green is going to have a lot of success here.

I know this might sound crazy but with Bell possibly going on the block I would make a trade for Raja Bell and hopefully that could be a 2 for 1 if we throw in picks.
Then I would get Green,Bowen and another C/PF because DJ is weak.
Imagine having Kobe-Ron-Bell-Bowen. Wow. Gerald Green I would treat like a rookie. There will be plenty of minutes in garbadge time and I would kind of save Bowen for the playoffs.
I choose Green over McCants because even though Rashard could be a starter and average 18 right now Gerald can play 2/3 and has a better attitude.
I would also play Bell a little bit at the 3.
15 players. Best bench in the league. Have 2 all nba defenders come in for 2 all nba defenders. Wow.

The thing I can understand is we have absolutely no plans on adding a player even if it's for the min. Now what I don't understand is we traded Ariza for Artest and we saw what can happen when you take a talented wing and let him develop properly how they can break out. We have Phil Jackson but more importantly we have Ron Artest to guard him every day in practice which will make him better and Kobe to teach him. It doesn't get any better then that.
It is possible they get A Green or McCants he plays decent backup minutes and alot of blowout minutes which there will be alot and maybe next year he breaks out like Ariza did. How can they not get alot better with them to and Phil.
Heck McCants averaged 15 points in less then 30 minutes last year for Sac. Green is way more talented then Ariza. He has allstar potential if he is developed right and who better then another player who came out from H.S. and plays the same position. He is one of the top 5 most athletic players in the league and we need an athletic 2/3 and he can be either. Plus we can't count on Walton to stay healthy as a backup sf.

Expect this other C/PF won't play much either because Gasol, Odom, and Bynum will take all the minutes up at PF and C.

that's fine at the min it wouldn't matter but just in case it's better then DJ. Plus we will be blowing out teams so garbadge minutes will happen and if Bynum goes down for 10 games we will need a backup big pf or C.
Why are we so against developing talent though. Look at the Spurs. It seems like we always buy or trade for talent never develop it when there is a ton of it to be had for the min.
Maybe the economy turns around and the opp to get studs for nothing is a real short thing. Gerald Green or a clear 18 point a game scorer in McCants for nothing or even a defensive backup like Mason for 1 million is crazy to not get. I know we are over the cap but Buss can take that out his change jar and it will mean we can play Kobe 32 minutes to prolong his career, Artest as well. For that matter Gasol to. There in 30's now.

I updated the poll with new options since some of the players list were signed by other teams.

I would want all 4 of those players lol. There all better then Sasha and Luke or potentially are.
I really wish Buss would just buyout Ammo and get 3 players if they could. McCants 18 points a game potential easy.

Well they won't, and also we always don't get what we want in life.

I know but it would make sence to get 1 of them to make up for Ariza. Why not develop talent if were not going to keep our picks, We sign our players to 3 year deals, and we have Bynum. Why not develop. It worked out with Ariza, we got him for Cook. This would be the same thing.

Gotta agree with Dexmor. By signing a player like Rashad McCants, Rodney Carney, or Gerald Green for the veteran's minimum. We make a low-cost, low-risk, high potential investment and could possibly turn them into our next Trevor Ariza. Right now, we're giving up our draft picks for nothing but money, we have no new players that we can look forward to being a "hidden treasure" type of player that we had in Ariza. Bottom line, $1.2 million on a one-year contract, any one of these players could be a surprise hit on this Lakers squad. The Lakers are skilled at turning trash into treasure.

I honestly think Carney would give us everything Ariza did and more, he's a little bit worse on defense but he's a much better shooter. Same athleticism, Carney is actually a little faster, neither can create off the dribble, both have good size (Carney is an inch or so shorter). Carney's b-ball IQ is lacking somewhat but he's no where near as bad as Gerald Green in that department.

I know, it's like they don't care if they burn out Kobe and Artest because they will just rebuild and they don't need to get a steal because they are that good and don't need to develop a super talent because they will just get one after they win championships. I don't know if it's arrogance or what. I know it can't be the money because there is no way there like 93 million is fine but 94 million would kill us.
Come on. This is such an obvious mistake and it's wildly arrogant.
