how the F did we survive the 05-06 season

for me 06-07 was more brutal to go through. all the freakin injuries and smush playing with a crappy attitude. i remember (nightmares) playing starting lineups of:

cook
bynum

Sad thing is people said Kobe was selfish that year but he would have averaged 7-8 assists at least if Smish could hit an open shot or if Kwame could catch a pass... It was unbelievable at times how many open looks Kobe created when he was beasting that just went by the wayside... Wade and Bron were great last year, but what Kobe did in 05-06 was nothing short of phenomenal. I still remember the 50 pt streak because we started to go into that same late season slide again like the year before after Rudy T left and I was like, great, here comes a late lottery pick again... Nope... Kobe just flat took over and willed us to 5 or 6 straight wins if I remember right. That was the most impressive thing about that 50 pt streak, those were all late season games, fighting for post season position, and we WON them all... how many guys have put up huge numbers in losses... Wade had arguably better teammates last year, in a weaker overall conference, and came up with less wins that that Laker team... insane

I agree. I still remember we were something like 26-13 before Kwame and Odom went down. At the time I thought we could maybe get a 4th or 5th seed in the West, we were playing really well. Than all the injuries start setting in. All the freaking losing streaks starts bringing us down. Kobe had to drop 50s to keep us in the playoff run, our team truly sucks ass. The playoffs was easier to watch though. I pretty much gave up on the season by than.

This line up was just bad. Walton , Brown, and Parker in a starting line up with anybody other than Kobe would be at the bottom of the conference.
