Agree with TonyMontana the way he reacted to the fans and required police involvement is what cost him the season. The punch was provoked so he probably would've got 4-6 games if it had ended there.
Thank you, Phil.

+1

It also didn't help that on national tv he tussled with his own teammates and assistant coaches. Also, earlier in the offseason he'd been tossed out of practice. The kid's a loose cannon, apparently, and the university's making a statement.

What I think is this will NOT prevent him from making an NFL team. His college playing career is over, but all Blount's got to do is have a good NFL combine.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Can't he just transfer to another school and continue playing college football?

I dont know I think he isnt eligable specially since he is a senior, but any college that signs him is basically telling O.U and every other NCCA team that they dont honor another colleges punishment and they allow unsportsmanship conduct no matter how bad it is as long as your a good player. Basically that team is lowring themselves and they are lowring their standards, willing and excepting players to do as they wish since they didnt honor the disciplinary action handed down to Blount for his wrong doings by O.U.

I think the only way that Blount can save his future is to self admit himself in some sort of an anger mangament program and go public about it. Do some charitable work and stay out of trouble and still attend his teams meetings as well as games and stay on the sidelines and support his team and his teammates. Then maybe just maybe he might change the way the public views him as an idividual first and then an athlete. If he does that then I think he will gain a lot of respect even more than he did on the field when he was playing. But its hard, I mean look at Pac Man Jones, but I hope he does, if he doesnt then he wasted his talent and he blew away his entire career that he has been so blessed to have.

Yeah that's one risk and he probably wouldn't care if he's a senior but if he was a frosh/soph he could find a lot of suitors atleast in D2.

I'd say in this case, it was ok.

The Boise state player was dumb in the first place by taunting him and pushing him on the chest. If he does that on the street, not in a stadium, he'd start a fight every time. He was just dumb.

I am glad he got knocked out.

Nah I have to disagree.
First of all Blount ran his mouth from last year, and again he ran his mouth for two weeks before the Boise game and even said that Boise State deserved a ass kicking on game day and he (Blount) PERSONALLY is going to hand out that ass kicking himself.

Well guess what he didnt.

If Blount doesn’t want to be trashed talked or punked out after a game, then he should have STFU and keep his big mouth closed. My take is if your going to dish it out then have the balls to A. Back it up and B. Be a MAN and TAKE IT TOO.

Well guess what, he isnt a MAN. He is a little itch, you know why, cause only itches like Blount’s throw a SUCKER punch like he did on a player without his helemt on and started back peddaling like a ITCH. Hout wasn’t even looking at him when he threw that ish.
If Blount was man enough and wanted to fight, he could have had the balls to at least fight like a man, not throw a cheap shot like he did and then start back peddaling and skipping across the field with him staring at the entire Boise team.

In the streets thats the biggest ITCH move you can EVER DO, and if you do that then you better take off running for your life after you did that, cause you know if your back peddaling like Blount was you know dam well one of HIS boys will run up ON YOUR BACK as your back peddaling and takes a cheap shot at you just like you did on him.

Also Hout tapped him on his left shoulder pad, not his chest. In football thats you trying to get another players attention no matter what it is. If Hout was talking **** or trying to start ish then he wouldve walked right up to his face helmet to helmet and wouldve gotten his attention then. I know cause I have done that a couple of times when I was a wide reciever in high school after a cheap shot or a ist talking corner trying to get in my head or talking ish to me trying to get me off my game.

As far as Hout Im sure the only thing he probably said was "So whos got their asskicked today" "Or keep talking ish brah" I still doesnt justify for Blount to run up and COLD COCK Hout with a SUCKER PUNCH, doest it?
And if you say yes then I guess you cant disagree with Blount ruining his college caree and probably a good shot at winning the Heisemen and getting drafted as a top ten tailback in the nest NFL draft, SO WAS IT WORTH IT???

I dont hink so, like I said if you dish it out then be ready to take it too.

As far as if this was in the streets too, I doubt that this ish would be taken so lightly by his teammates or Hout. I mean Hout does look like a itch, and thats what probably pissed Blount off too, thinking to himself "Look at this puck ass skinny ******** talking ish to me" and thats why he did what he did, cause the weakest guy on the field (which usually is the dumbest guy on the filed) talked down on him. It wasnt the bad boys of Boise that were doing the ish talking, it was a corn fed oky doky country boy running his mouth and thats what gave Hout the balls to run his mouth, he figured Blount wouldnt do anything about it, but he was wrong. Like I said Hout got knocked the DUCK OUT, and Im glad he did. Sometimes you cant under estimate the guy your talking ish too, NO MATTER HOW MANY CAMERAS OR COACHES ARE AROUND.

But again if this was in the streets it wouldnt happen and if it did the guy running his mouth would be able to backup his ish no matter who he was talking ish too.

If he punched the guy and that was it, I'd say half a season, what's that 6 games, it's the move to the fans and being pulled back by 10 guys that gets him the season.

I think it was a combination of things.
1. He SUCKER PUNCH anohter player.
2. The other player had removed his helmet, A BIG NO NO in football, cause if a fight breaks out, your protected and the other player isnt, so the advantage goes to the guy who is wearing his gear.
3. He then proceeded to puch HIS OWN teammate when they were trying to calm him down.
4. He then left the field and attacked fans in the stands.

Didnt Artest get suspended for an entire season and lost millions of dollars for his actions? Yet the NCAA has a much more stircter policies and R&G since they are suppose to be an educational insitute for teaching higher learning and discipline, so Im sure they arent as lenient, merciful, generous, or indulgent as the NBA or pro sports are with their athletes. In pro sports they hit you where it hurts the most, in your pocket but in the NCAA they cant so they discipline you in other ways like Blount faced.

It's never ok to hit someone after a contest. But.... if your going to mock a player in the heat of an after game hupla, and you say some fighting words, you better not turn your back on the player and run like a coward as the Boise State player did. Blount reacted as many would react here when pushed, then yelled at in a mocking way. In the street, he knows the fight would be on, he just made the mistake of thinking he could do the same on the field after a heated game.

Blount was running his mouth last year after the loss, and this year before even playing the game then gets dominated by BSU's defense and barley gets mocked afterwards...and he responds by a sucker punch when the other guy isn't even looking??? (And its worth mentioning that right after Blount punched him he did a Carmelo Anthony and started back peddling away) Blount was the Coward, talking trash, not backing it up and throwing a sucker punch then running away.

Players talk and push all the time, especially on the football field...you see it on almost every play, he was the only idiot who reacted like he would "in the street"
