That's the way their talents would ideally mesh. But Drew seems to base most of his identity on how many points he scores -- something that's more of a luxury considering all the firepower we have.
If we replaced Gasol with a defensive-minded PF, like a Varejao or a Charles Oakley type, that wouldn't be an issue at all. Indeed, Bynum's score-first mentality would be perfect. But in this case it's about fitting in and doing what's best for the team. Hence, a lot of us would like to see Andrew scale that back and focus on defense/shot blocking/rebounding.
I don't think there's anything unrealistic or unfair about that in the slightest.
Without a doubt but that switch has to go on in his head. Also he needs to pass back out of the post some times as well. He can be a bit of a black hole.
Agree. Sometimes I think Bynum catches the ball to far out, he then makes it harder on himself to make a move. I want Bynum too, at most take one dribble and power it up to the rim. If he catches the ball to far out, he should pass it out, re-post, get real good low post position, and look to get the ball back. Shaq was very good at that. Bynums a young guy so Im sure he thinks he's not going to see the ball again. But the truth is he will. The last couple of years Kobe and Bynum was clicking pretty well when he was healthy. Now if Kobe is a willing passer to Bynum, I think everyone else will fall in line.
