Kobe - They didn't want any part of this crazy ****

Post#1 » by Slava » Mon Feb 1, 2010 3:20 am

Bryant looked at Artest in the locker room and recounted the start of the game, when the Lakers and Celtics were already jostling and trash-talking in the jump circle before tipoff. Artest got the ball in the post on the first play and was fouled hard by Boston's Paul Pierce — at which point Artest struck the sort of wide-eyed, menacing pose very few non-institutionalized people can.

He stared and seemingly braced himself to fight. Bryant told Artest he noticed the Celtics' reaction at that precise moment: "They didn't want any part of this crazy (expletive). I'm telling you. I saw it."

There's very little Bryant wants more for this Lakers team than Bynum not backing down from contact and Artest being an effectively "crazy (expletive)." Bear in mind that after the Lakers began this trip with a loss in Cleveland, Bryant questioned the toughness of his teammates and looked forward to seeing something different in Boston.

Good find j-far, but yeah I'll take control crazy if it's like that. Kobe was right though, they didn't want to deal with Ron. Like that sequence when KG flopped and was clapping, Ron just walked right by the fool while he was on the floor....like yeah whateva. I loved it because usually the littlest things KG does gets under weak minded teams skin.

The mental games from Boston are over as far as it's concerned to the Lakers.

here is another golden nugget from K Dings blog. KG what douche!

KG throws elbow into Sasha's chest before rebound. Sasha definitely felt that one.

good posts by Ding, but read them from the bottom up to get the timing right.

Why try and intimidate Artest thats the last person you want to piss off, If we face these fools in the finals and we sweep em I hope Artest just knocks them all out, these celtics think there so tough but when you get in there face they run away like little bitches

artest was AWESOME today!!

this is what we brought him here for. INTERIOR toughness.

ariza was great, but he was "perimeter" great. length. clogged lanes. but on the inside, we would get beat up and have to live with paus "soft" label.

today however, artest was goin for it. he was in pierces jaw all game long. and fought underneath when needed.

the problem?

the celtics might not even make it there, and we might have to face off with the cavaliers. and lebron is just too overpowering for anyone . . . even ron ron.

Fact: The game would have been a blowout if the Lakers had even a remotely decent defensive PG.

While I love the toughness that Artest brings and how he psyched the Celtics, that only works against teams with fake toughness.

It won't work against the Cavs because LeBron doesn't get rattled and neither does Shaq. This kind of toughness will come in extremely handy if we face the Celtics or Magic in the Finals, but the chances of that happening are incredibly slim. We need to figure out how to get tougher against the Cavs and that starts with our bigs. I don't think they have it in them, personally. They see Shaq and they instantly start peeing on themselves.

I essentially agree with this...

LeBron isn't going to repect this kind of toughness until someone knocks him on his ass on the way to the basket... Even as big as he is, I'm shocked this hasn't happened in any of the important games I've watched him in... Picking up a flag-1 would be worth it to establish you're hold on the paint... I bet if Gasol did it, they might not even call the foul. Ron would most likely get tossed though... Kobe would get the flag for sure.

And Shaq doesn't respond to brute strength... Or more acurately, he rises to the challenge. He gets flustered when you out-perform him... That's when he starts picking up stupid fouls and has to sit. Gasol should man-up and try to work him down low... If he got some easy baskets on him, he'd be on the bench anyway.

But in the last couple games against them, I actually thought Bynum stepped up held his own and didn't seem to back down... He's just not strong enough to handle Shaq on his own. And Gasol and Odom showed no spine at all against the Cavs this season.

So, in order to make Ron's intinsity stick against teams like the Cavs and the Nuggets to a certain extent... It's going to take a team effort. Gasol and Odom are going to have to play up to their size and match Ron Ron's intensity.

I agree though, nothing they've shown so far makes me think they can do it.

hahaha that was so funny, KG tried bumping Artest and Ron didnt even move and KG went flying. Too too funny. Then when Bynum dunked on KG after KG wouldnt shut his mouth. They aren't the big bad Celtics anymore.
