I don't think friendship have done much in the league. When Gasol was in Memphis, he had Juan Carlos on the team. Walton is butt buddies with Richard Jefferson.
Lebron and Wade are friends right?

3 way with Chicago/Toronto/L.A would have worked
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=yf62czf
Banks and Ammo to Chicago
Hinrich and O'Bryant to L.A
Powell and Sasha to Toronto

What is your kick with broke down ass Bobby Simmons ? And the trade would've been straight up garbage. Why trade for players who have even had the impact that Sasha or Josh as even had in limited action ?Jajwanda wrote:They're discussing Sasha for Banks. This is an excellent move and it's not because of Banks. It lowers the Lakers payroll just enough that they can sign a player for the veteran minimum at the backup wings, such as a Bobby Simmons.
When was the last time Banks or O'Bryant were a factor or for that matter seen the damn floor ?

Perhaps Mitch could've gone for the other PG..... should've countered with:
Calderon/Wright
for
Ammo/Vujacic/Peezey
Toronto gets Bosh's buddy and saves a bunch of cash the next few years
LA gets their PG and a wing backup, and save a mil plus in the immediacy
Pau would've had to call Buss personally though to get him to take on the payroll for his buddy Jose.

Only if Sasha/Luke/Ammo all expired at the end of the same season. Whether it would be this season or next season, It would have been great to see that much cap space clear up. Over 15 million in contracts gone and the Lakers could have built a solid bench with that much cap room.

Banks is better only because he at the very least has ONE discernible skill (defense on quick PGs) while Vujachick's only advantage is knowing the triangle.

aside from offering 1 or 2 players part of the MLE, that 15mil doesnt translate into "actual cap room" since we're so far in the lux tax anyway
it only translates into operating cost flexibility
