Since OCHO LOCO had to come in an ruin my KAJ vs Wilt thread which I understood his point. Now we need to change it up a bit for old school part II peps.

Who's better in their era?? Shaq or KAJ.

Shaq always had tough times with long quick defenders. And Kareem was a good shot-blocker. Shaq would pretty much have to dunk to score on KAP which he would do at a pretty good clip for a while because for a few years there, no one could keep Shaq from the rim.
But on the other end Kareem could score at will on Shaq. Plus Shaq would foul the hell out of Kareem and Kareem would hit 80% of his free throws.

For a few years Shaq would dunk on Kareem but for the other 15 or so Kareem would own him.

Wilt was taller, faster, more skilled and about the same weight (toward the end of his career) and strength as Shaq, and Lou did pretty well against him.

KAJ for longevity, overall durability, games played, and versatility.

Shaq in his prime vs KAJ in prime, I might have to go with Shaq. But in the end, overall, I say KAJ.

there is no comparison. doesn't matter how thunderous shaq's dunks were they were still only two points. he really does nothing better than capt. kareem is the bar for centers,and probably the second best player of all time after magic jonhson

Well if they were both on the same team and both were starting. I see KAJ as a power forward and Shaq as the center. Shaq is/was more power and Kareem is more fluid. It is hard to put them in the same sentence since they played in different eras. Either way. Both got the Lakers a few championships and that is the bottom line. We won with both and I hope Andrew will be the corner stone in the future of the Lakers centers.

without getting my pau vs kaj theorum(:))... kaj without a doubt, however to compare bigs or even laker bigs, it it sort of unfair, without even getting to the different era part, wilt vs kareem would be more apt...whereas kaj vs. say, bill russell might be more apropo.

Hey, guys. I don't think either one could stop the other. Sure, KAJ could hit the sky hook over Shaq and Shaq would't block it. But Shaq could back KAJ to the rim and cram it down on him at will. Which is the higher % shot? Add that to the fact that KAJ would be so worn out and in foul trouble. I think he would be limited. KAJ would still get his points, but he'd have to work a lot harder for them.

Shaq also won with 2 different teams, and made it to the finals with 3. I don't necessarily think that KAJ was the "Star" on all of his championship teams. There was this guy named Magic!! Shaq should win his 5th with his 3rd team in a couple of months!

Shaq- #5 in points, 15th in rebounds, 8th in blocks, #2 in fg%. Won titles as star player during a 3 peat. And played so far, 5 years less than JAK. Along with Wilt, one of the most unstoppable players in the history of the NBA.
