The best plan of action would be to bring Bryant off the bench, which will increase the bench scoring as it will let him do his thing with the second unit, which is score.
The team obviously runs the offense much better with him out of the lineup and has done so for several years and with him coming off the bench, he can add his scoring ability to make the team even better.
It's been an idea that Coach Jackson has thought about for years but Jerry Buss was always against it. If there is any time to do it, that time is now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but never in the history of the league has a team's best player come off the bench? Second or third best yeah, but never the best player. I can't think of one ... and there have been some really good sixth men throughout history.

And if Bryant comes off the bench, that trend will not change.

^^OUCH!
If I agreed with you I'd have no problem doing it ... but I don't.
Kobe is kind of a hard dude to like on a personal level and his game is a little too John Starkish (streaky) and Jordanesque (selfish) for me, but he is special.
You just have to pefectly build around him the way that Krause built around Jordan and Croce and Larry Brown built around Iverson.

We can bench Gasol, Bynum or whoever else, and it won't matter in the slightest unless we start knocking down shots.

This...
Problem is, Gasol and Bynum are the only ones knocking down shots right now... And we're talking about putting one of them on the bench to start the game...
I really don't like the idea of bringing Gasol off the bench... It's too risky right now with us in a tie series...
It wouldn't bother me too much if we sat Bynum to begin the game thought... Let's see how Odom does as a starter... It shouldn't effect Bynum's minutes much anyway.
Either Kobe or Odom needs to play a whole lot better for us to win anything. Since it looks like we're getting the most out of Kobe we can until he gets some more rest, maybe we should do whatever we can to get Odom going. Once he gets back into a rythm maybe we can try starting Bynum again.
