Coud Fisher be coming off the bench next game?

Post#1 » by The Skyhook » Sun Apr 25, 2010 5:29 pm

Fisher admitted to it Saturday night after the Game 4 blowout, telling Phil Jackson to bench him the instant Fisher fails to box Westbrook out in Game 5 Tuesday night. Fisher said he's used to his man only coming as far as the elbow to rebound, not exploding to the rim to rebound the way Westbrook is.

I know he doesn't say bench me from the start but at least he has manned up like Luke Walton has and told Phil Jackson that if he does poorly then he needs to be benched. I'm curious about what kinds of changes Phil is going to make going into game 5.

I appreciate Fish as I appreciate Luke for their leadership. Their both world class duded and world class teammates.

It takes a great deal of humility and self-effacement to admit when you are coming up short and although Fish is not asking to come off the bench he is saying privately and now publically (maybe not the smartest thing) that Westbrook is an athletic handful for him.

I respect him and Walton.

Have you read Fisher's book? I never respected him as much as I did after I cracked that thing open.

The key remains what Phil Jackson is going to do with this whole situation. If anything, Phil is not exactly known for making changes in playoffs even if it does benefit the team. He is more likely going to stick to his game plan for better or worse.

If Phil Jackson actually benches Fisher after the first time Russel Westbrook gets an offensive rebound, it's going to be after the first shot the Thunder miss :)

Because Fisher will spend a ton of time in the paint trying to seal out Westbrook...

Just retire you jackass. Our bigs are the ones that need to box out. You just worry about keeping him in front of you and not f'ing up every fast break.

i want bynum to come of the bench. I want gasol to man up and stop takin 18 footers like he has been. I want bynum to try harder to get better post position, not just pretend like he wants the ball and let Collison front him and the ball goes to kobe with 5 seconds left on the shot clock.

whats up with that anyways why do the lakers FAKE like they want to go to the post and then swing the ball around to try for the other side to gasol and end up doin the game thing and swinging it back around for a fall away three from kobe on the elbow. the truth is we need someone to get to the basket on a constant basis so the bigs can get easy putbacks....who can do that?

LAMAR ODOM CAN! lets go lamar wake up.

and yes bench fisher for brown.

i dont see the zen master changing up the roster in a playoff series, especially one thats all tied up... but lamar is the key right now.. if he can come in and give us valuable minutes, i dont see how we lose the game.. gasol and bynum have been playing decent.. kobe needs to calm down some.. he can still be great like he is used to, i just dont think he can do it in the same fashion anymore.. especially since hes a little banged up at the moment. and ron ron needs to hit wideeee opeeeennnn shots.. he has been so open sometimes that its scary, hes just not converting.. i realize he has a tough task in guarding durant... but since when do people just forget how to shoot?? he was fine last year guarding kobe and hitting threes!! come on ron ron!!
