Seriously its KD because we already have Bynum.. :))

But even without Bynum it would still be KD.... :))

Wow the vote is 8-8. It kinda comes down to what do you value more defense or offense.

Between durant and dwight which one is easier to shut down? Durant just set the record for most 25+ point games where as dwight commits a ton of stupid fouls and will play 20 minutes in a game.

Durant is impossible to shut down
Dwight is quite easy to shut down

What record? His streak of consecutive 25 point games was broken before he got the MJs 40?

Do you just make up stuff?

in a season, not in a row. He scored 25+ points in 73 games this season, that's only 9 games where he didn't score 25. Just for refrence, dwight had 17 games of 25+ points and lebron had 57 games of 25+

D12 is not nearly the same height as Shaq.

I would take Dwight easily. Big men like Dwight win championships. Skilled players like Durant, make you competitive, but a player like Dwight will make you a championship contender year in and year out.

D12 leads the lead in rebounding and blocks for the third year in the row. Please, with that kind of defensive presence, you can easily add players like Jameer Nelson and Rashard Lewis who are really good and build a championship team. If you have kevin durant, it's going to be harder to build the pieces around him to win championships, as good as he is.

You guys are just focusing a wee bit too much on offense. Dwight howard can score a lot, they just don't feel the urge to make him spend the energy because they have so many weapons on that team.

Ok, from the vid...

Shaq's listed at 7-1... I think he's more like 'around 7'... It looks like he has about 3"s on DH... So I guess you could say Dwights 'around 6-9...

I'm presonally not focusing on Offense too much...
Dwights great when he gets in the paint... But he's an upper-body freak... His lower body isn't as developed which makes him somewhat easier to dislodge/block out... And his footwork isn't there yet either.

Every year someone says "Dwight needs to work on his footwork." And every year there's little change.

Against us in the finals, he routinely had a hard time getting into the paint on Offense or Defense... He was relegated to shooting the 8-10 footer which he can't do very well with no shooting touch...

Dwight is one of the top players in the league at any size... Of course the team he's on is always going to be a threat in the post-season... It's a matter of degrees though... Which Player takes you to a higher degree of success...

I personally think we've seen about the peak of performance for players like Dwight or Mello... Or close to it... I think when all is said and done, it's going to be a LeBron/Durant league for the future...

Man, on this current squad. I would have loved to see Dwight protecting the rim against Westbrook's penetration. His rebounding and shot blocking would have been golden right now.

Defense wins championships. Dwight is the best defensive anchor in the league.

Durant is solid, and a phenom in all respects. But his squad is winning cause of stellar collective team defense and hustle, not because he's running the show (he is still amazing). Take away the quality defense and hustle that this OKC team is playing with, and they drop 10-15 wins easily.
I'll smack you in the mouth.

There's a ton of shooters/scorers in the league, but there's only one athletic beast who happens to be the clear perrenial defensive player of the year.

I'd rather have Dwight Howard.

He isn't very polished from an offensive standpoint, but from a total productivity area, I'm in love with what he has to offer. I will sleep just fine taking his high defensive IQ, anchoring defense, rebounding, shot blocking, and 18-21 points a game over the one dimensional player which is Durant.

dwight howard.

the floor opens up with a player like him.

with durant, get a younger version of a artest and hes shut down.

with dwight, no player can stop him in totality.

Yeah, durant sure is impossible to shut down. he was like 30% shooting this series.

I'm curious to see what people's opinions are now. durant is an amazing player and one of the leagues best, but i think the results of this thread are a "what have you done for me lately' effect..

Like Dwight Howard played great in the first round, and he wasn't going up against any DPOY candidates. Just a washed up Ratiff, a struggling Chandler and Nazr Mohammed.
