Mbengas future with the team

Post#1 » by kobethegoat » Sat May 15, 2010 8:10 pm

We havent seen much of the big man recently but I feel he is still a vital part of this franchise moving forward. He offers size, toughness, good D and rebounding and a little bit of an offensive game. In addition he wouldnt cost too much to keep.

Mbenga is also the insurance policy that allows us to entertain the possibility of trading Bynum. I hate the idea of trading Drew since he is a likeable kid, future star and we've seen him grow up in front of our eyes. But if we're able to get Lebron or Wade this offseason then Drew will be necessary sacrifice.

Are you serious Mbenga isn't vital to the team moving forward he probably wont be back next year. The Lakers can find a younger cheaper option Mbenga doesn't even start when Bynum is out. I hope you were joking with this post.

vet's min contracts are partly covered by the NBA because they dont want older players getting overlooked by younger, less experienced players because their "veteran's minimum" contract costs more

mbenga is staying imo

1.069 mil is his min next year. I say keep him for that OR draft Jerome Jordan if avail at 43 for 500k OR sign Ian Mahinmi for his min 885k. Three options for 3rd string C.

He's valuable. Maybe he doesn't get the minutes but, I'm pretty sure he's valuable in practice. That's important.
