I laugh every time some genius comes up with this statement and you are not alone, they constantly say it on TV too!

Here let me explain:
Yes, it is true that the Team holding a players "Bird-Rights" can offer 1 more year, BUT if a player signs somewhere else for 5 years (instead of 6), when he signs a new contract (after the 5th year), he can get that "sixth year" money back.

I still say he stays in cleveland.
a) they can pay him the most
b) there's something to be said about the opportunity to become the biggest icon in the history of your home state
c) he has a lot to prove to people imo about his character and taking the approach of wanting to finish what he started there in cleveland would prob draw some appeal and we all know with that massive ego thats something he's going to consider

He needs to go some where with a good coach. like a phill, pop or larry brown. someone needs to put the reigns on him. He also needs a great gm. The man needs to prove hes all team(not just him), and quite calling the shots! Look at Kobe. He was great but couldnt get it done without SHAQ when it was his team. Look at him now, hes all team. Got the RING and working on another. :(

Is it still the case (or was it ever) true that his Nike contract pays a $100M bonus if he plays for a big market team?

if i were him i'd stay in cleveland....hes already turned the franchise around 360.....i mean 180 degrees...
the cavs are contenders and they have a nice team....instead of lebron leaving, they should make some smarter moves and bring in a budding center as well as a legit shooting guard...

Lebronze should go to the knicks...

Bright lights, big city = lot of pressure to win. Unless they can show they can sign multiple FAs to be a create a good supporting cast. Nets or Chicago makes more sense to me.

I actually think Lebron might be in the worst place of all the free agents. He would be better off while having a legit 1st option. I feel like Bosh could bolt to Miami and team up with Wade, Amare might either resign or go to the Knicks and Lebron would be left as the odd man out.

He'll go to the Nets because he thinks the Russian will pay like Cuban for talent... And who wouldn't want to be on the team from Brooklyn?

Plus, despite what his camp says, I don't think winning championships is that important to him.

If he cares about winning, he'll stay in Cleveland, because they already have a good nucleus around him and could be favorites again with the addition of a second play-maker... And the subtraction of some dead-wood. No potential team he could go to is closer than Cleveland to a title.

Iceburg Slim wrote:This should be a near-no-brainer. I'd either sign with Dwyane Wade and potentially Chris Bosh down in Miami (they have the most cap space out of all the teams) and win titles for the next seven years, or sign a surprisingly-stacked Nets team given their immense cap space.

PG - */Arroyo/Chalmers
SG - Wade/Quentin Richardson/Daequan Cook*
SF - LBJ/Dorell Wright/James Jones*
PF - FA: Bosh/Haslem
C - */Joel Anthony/Jamaal Magloire

* Under Construction - Mainly because we all have no idea what Riley has up his sleeve.

or NJ...

PG - Harris
SG - FA: Joe Johnson/Courtney Lee
SF - LBJ/CDR
PF - Draft: Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins/Yi Jianlian
C - Lopez

Not a bad situation to slip into at all IMO.

Bahha funniest quote so far, i guess miamis ending up with 3 max free agents. Bosh, Wade, and james interesting
