Shaq was largely responsible for Kobe's first three (not saying that Kobe wasn't HUGE, but those were Shaq's teams), it seems silly to make this comment.

I don't like the comment, but meh

We herald Kobe for using these things for motivation, and then we cringe when he speaks about them?

Come on the guy has just won his 5th ring, rarely is honest and upfront in public, and usually lets his game speak for him.

One measly shot at Shaq? Small potatoes. You think he's arrogant? Great. So is Lebron. So was Shaq.

Enough with Kobe must take the "high road."

It doesn't matter.

Not at all. Kobe remembers everything and finds it to be more of a challenge, and he likes the smack talk, it keeps him motivated. He said all this on Rome today.

The definition of classless is Doc's surprising presser, watch that if you need an example of classless.

One of the reasons that I stood by Kobe during/after the break-up was because I thought he handled himself better while Shaq just continually made an ass out of himself with his kindergarten comments and insults.

Having said that, Shaq earned those comments, and whatever hopes/dreams there were of Shaq coming to LA next year have now been smashed like particles in the LHC.

Agreed.

i'm on board with this too.............except i have no hopes or dreams of shaq rejoining the lakers again

Its a double edged sword. Its what makes KOBE KOBE. you cant have him making those big shots. Taking over games. Being the great player. Making great plays . . . WITHOUT THE ANAL ATTITUDE! Without that type of attitude, HE IS NOT a great player. Have you caught some past Jordan interviews? The dude was an ass! And so is KOBE, believe it! He speaks well during interview time, but there is something in there that makes these individuals the ELITE of the game. That Attitude.

AND YOU KNOW WHAT, HELL, I'LL TAKE IT!

I dont need to have a conversation with the dude every night, but I need for him to have laser like focus in winning games. and thus far, hes done it.

Not a bad timing at all..
Shaq's a smart guy he knew Kobe would capture that title last night and eventually get back at him
and ridicule him in front of all NBA fans around the world...

Unlcky for him Kobe didnt hear them,,,,
Its now obvious that his biggest drive was to get back at shaq..
Kobe can now scratch Shaq from his "TO-DO" list.
Next? Beat lebron in the finals and join Jordan with 6 chips..

Shaq's twitter reply told me enough.

He got a lot of backlash for the " Ass taste rap" Not just ragging on Kobe but getting fake sheriff
fired too.

I think Shaq kind of felt like Kobe had that comment to burn and Shaq deserved it.... It was a touche' moment and now they can close the book.

It was actually a bit refreshing to see Kobe being so open, honest and forthcoming about winning #5. Besides taking the jab at Shaq, he admitted to being caught up in the whole Laker/Celtic rivalry and getting revenge for 2008. He also acknowledged that the opinions about him "losing a step" bothered him as well. It seems pretty clear that this championship was the most special for KB24.

I especially love this quote, "you guys know me, I don't forget anything", when responding to what it means to now have one more ring than Shaq. That really tells you all you need to know about Kobe as a competitor!

Has anyone ever thought about what Shaq probably ment??

Listen: he said "if Kobe wins he will be the greatest Laker of all time" He tried to Jinx Kobe and realistically he was hoping Kobe would lose so that it would actually hurt his legacy as a Laker since it would've been consider another Laker Cs let down..... So he hoped.

I thought it was a very petty comment. Shaq helped him get 3 of those titles. I think we saw the real Kobe peek through the stoic personality he has been putting on since the Denver/rape controversy. The last time you saw him show himself a bit was when he was disgusted with people getting on Tiger's case - another fairly classless moment for Kobe.

I saw ESPN run a story speculating that Kobe could be the greatest Laker ever. Not a chance. Kobe is certainly one of the best basketball players to ever play the game. But his personality will keep him from being the greatest Laker much less the greatest player ever.

WTF does personality have to do with anything just because Kobe isn't like all the rest of the superstars that want attention doesn't take away from his accomplishments, dude just won his 5th ring and you're already hating saying he isn't the greatest Laker or greatest player, Michael Jordan is a douche bag but people claim him to be the g.o.a.t. so whats your point?

So what make him different from Jordan? I'm not comparing abilities here just personalities, so Jordan is the greatest ever because he is such a model citizen?......What you do off the court shouldn't take away what you have achieved as a player on the court! Jordan could have killed somebody but no matter what he will still be GOAT! ps. Jordan is a bigger **** than Kobe.

Kobe is a rat. That may be hard to swallow but it's the truth. For this reason alone I think he should let go of anything Shaq has to say.
