I really don't understand, he had so little to do with that Championship, where he back in what '77 brought an amazing Championship to the Blazers where he was the star and had many amazing games. Guess he just fell in love with the Celtics lore and tradition.

He didn't have the greatest numbers, but he was still Sixth Man of the Year when they won in 86. Pretty big part of what was easily the best frontcourt in history -- three Hall of Famers, with another one coming off the bench.

Didn't know he was 6th man that year, thx. Yeah I think he's just a bit of a bitterman about the whole thing, he didn't like his doctors avail out West too it appears.

I think he was just grateful to be able to play ball again. He was at the absolute top of the world in Portland -- just won a championship, team had the best record in the league by far the following year. Then he breaks his foot, none of the doctors could figure out what was wrong and the fans started souring on him because they thought he was dogging it. His body just wasn't built for the game -- just like Yao, and maybe like Andrew, too.

Why did Kobe drive???????

Post#1105 » by LAKERS_1981 » Sat Jun 19, 2010 11:03 am

to the basket when Gasol got him that late rebound.
There was like 26 sek left of the game. We had a new 24 and were up by 3.
He could have got a O foul and Boston get the ball again. I was watching the game again and i thought this was stranges.

Game 7 MVP

Post#1111 » by NBAWestFan » Sat Jun 19, 2010 12:33 pm

Game 7 I thought was Ron Artest. But, After watching his interview after the game and the way Kobe played through out 3 quarters. Since Ron Ron carried the Lakers in the 1st half and avoid a 1st half blow out. The REAL MVP of the game is Ron Ron's Psychiatrist.

She help him to relax and he was indeed the player who stepped it up in the clutch.

Kobe will have to visit her if they make it next year.

I think gasol and rtest are the mvp's. if I have to pick one I'll go with gasol, he had so many good plays in the fourth were no one can seem to get a basket (almost perfect if he didn't missed crucial free throws).

Ron Artest. Gasol played like crap in first half but had very strong 4th quarter. Artest kept us from 15-20 point deficit (which basically would have meant no championship for us) and came through with several clutch plays (defensively and offesively). Both were great but G7 MVP has to be Artest.

I honestly think it was a completely balanced team win. Ron was the best player of game 7, but Pau's contributions were super close, and fish made some super clutch plays and talks to his team. Kobe drew all the attention and still made key plays.Lamar played well and got some key boards, sasha hit the clutch free throws... It was a really balanced team win. Does there have to be an MVP!?

It amazes me how my main man Deep always calls this stuff. He sees a lot of things coming and he is almost always right. Good call deep. Pleasure to enjoy another championship moment with you.

Laker Family thank you for putting up with me for yet another year. LOL. Be prepare for me to Bi^ch even more next season! But for now we can enjoy Basketball Imortality for another year.
Thanks Minhee, you know you my girl...I got mad respect for your knowledge of the game and I love your passion. Some view it as just being bitchy but I can read between the lines. You bring balance to the board, and as much as some don't like it everything can't be all rosy all the time.

That's news to me. That also explains the picture of the sexy male Santa to her from one of the Mods around Christmas. Minhee being a girl wasn't the first thing that popped to mind. Most of you here do reside in Cali. Can't blame me for going there. ;D

I re-read this whole thread and I got say emotions blinded the lot of you. all the whinning about how bad Kobe and Gasol were playing is hilarious. no credit what so ever to the impecable defense played by Boston and LA.

"bench Kobe!!"

without his rebounding and defense we lose. Boston defense was incredible on Kobe and Gasol and you guys were accusing them of chocking.

very comical thread. the only reason Ron was able to make an impact was because of Kobe and Gasol sucking up double and triple teams.

offensibly it was an ugly game for both sides, but defensibly it was an epic game. you guys need to watch the game again and enjoys the defense from both sides. it was very Spurs-Pistons-esque.

Kobe took some horrible shots in game 7 and missed some that he normally makes... No question.

But MVP stand for 'Most VALUABLE Player'... Does anybody actually think without Kobe we would have had a chance to beat the Celtics...

Or that the team would have been better off without Kobe that it would have been without Pau or Artest?

Kobe is the clear MVP of the Lakers in any game since Shaq left.

Even in game 7 he found a way to score the most points (esp when it counted) and have the second most rebounds.... For BOTH teams.

Kobe is the MVP by far... And I love what Artest and Pau did...

And to me, if you want to give it to Artest for what he did, you almost have to give it to Bynum... Because without him having monster games 1 and 2, and a positive impact in every single game, guys like Artest don't get the ball. And when Bynum has a positive impact, Gasol has an easier game.
