Man it looks like the Lakers are going to end up just patching up the team with a mediocre PG at best, and maybe add one good player to their bench. (Hopefully Mike Miller.)

Farmar to FO: "Thank you for such a gracious move."

FO to Farmar: "Yeah, ok- don't let the door hit your ass on the way out."

I really think the Lakers would have liked to keep Farmar as a back up PG.
I think it was him who wanted to either start or to be let go so he can play more minutes somewhere else.

I am not as down on Farmar as most people on this blog. I think the Lakers will miss his quickness.
I wish he had improved more, specially defensively, but for whatever reason, he didn't. He also continued to struggle in running the offense.

Overall, he brought some quickness to the team which was getting older and slower.

Should have offered him a QO but let him go out there and see what makes a real PG in this league. He'll have a decent enough career backing up someone in NYC or Miami.

Jordan does not have enough experience or playing time to be a 5 million a year starter. any team that signs him will find that out. He is good. Just not the top 10 good.

The Lakers decided Wednesday not to give restricted guard Jordan Farmar a one-year, $3-million qualifying offer.

Farmar will become an unrestricted free agent.

"The Lakers cared enough to let me become a free agent," Farmar said in a phone interview. "I was excited to hear it. I was real happy. If I do decide to leave, I'll have nothing but positive things to remember about the Lakers."

Someone interpret that Shakespeare for me, wtF is he talking about; if HE decides to leave?

Good pick up Duba.

To me that means that they want him back as a back up but will let him go out there and see if he can find something better (more money, more minutes )
And if he can find another situation that he likes better, then he is free to go.
But if not, they would probably take him back as long as he knows he will be a back up.

Hmm, you think that means the Lakers want him back wow. Considering the shi* pg fa out there that makes sense, and he wants a chance to start he's been bitching about that for a while.

That's what I wasn't getting, I just assumed that when Farmar threw up all over himself many times in the playoffs he was a gonner, but it appears I'm wrong. Now it's clear, thank you.

Lesson: Assume nothing ;). Thanks LakerRD.

Good bye Farmar. Our perimeter defense has improved.

I think he can be a nice defender when he wants to. I could see him break out on a team that runs a lot of pick n rolls and has slashers running the break with him "ala the bench mob with Ariza, Odom and Gasol".

He's just being under utilized in our system and he's a little arrogant to make the most of the situation anyways.

The funny thing is inevitably Farmar is going to come back, have a huge game against us, and then we will see a stream of posts lamenting the loss of Farmar.

In my opinion, Farmar is a decent player, but he is not the right PG for us. He needs the ball to be effective and he needs to score to be effective. His defense is driven by his offense, when he is scoring and involved, his defense is usually better. Unfortunately, on our team, he is not going to get the touches he wants and we see the result is his half effort defense and ball hogging offense.

Jordan wants to go to go to a bad team and get his stats. 13-15 pts, 5-6 assists are my guesses to where his stats will land next season. That is my take.
