so then we have the usual starting 5, with a new Pg and jefferson at the 5

Then we've got a reserve for artest, who already has walton and ebanks, who will make the roster i just hope phil gives him the minutes he derserves... and our back up bigs are? powell and mbenga? their leaving this year as well so who will be our reserves at the 4 and 5?

We then move bynum for Mike Miller and Kirk Hinrich... so we have essentially gotten Al Jefferson, Mike Miller and Kirk Hinrich for Bynum, Odom and Sasha.

We upgraded offensively without losing anything major defensively (hinrich would be an upgrade imo) and we've gotten deeper.

We would still have our MLE to get a PF/C now (which is easier than finding an elite guard)

And how do we acquire mike miller AND kirk Hinrich for bynum when miller is a free agent, and kirk hinrich is with the wizards
No one said we need an elite guard, so your saying we can sign an elite big with just our MLE?

You do realize that Mike Miller played for Washington last season and can re-sign there, money may not add up, but I'm just running out scenarios in my head that will never happen? You're a PBP - get off my nuts on a proposed trade scenario. Go bust on that guy that wants what's his face b/c of his NBA2K10 ratings.

I can't belive these GM's, this FA period along with the economy is turning the league upside down, it's so unstable right now, and it's going to get worse. I'll be amazed to see how all these GM's will fill their rosters when the dust settles.

No way I'd risk my franchise for LeStat, if the players were flipped age wise as well and 24 was LBJ's age and available, then it would be different becuase you'd be getting so much more than just Kobe's on court gifts.

I think Dwayne is more attractive for my franchise than LBJ, Dwayne doesn't look as good because he's with a garbage team.

Now you got guys like Dirk , Melo, CP3, here come the crazy !&%$@!...

Impressive trade... thought out by a gradeschool kid who plays NBA live all day.

Not so convincing for any adult with at least half a brain.

Sure, trade away Lakers size and length for smaller players who do nothing but score and can't step up during the playoffs...

The noise about MELO is getting louder. I think he maybe the only big name that really moves anywhere this off-season.

We could REALISTICALLY get Melo!

I personally doubt Melo signs the Nuggets offer and if he doesn't they know he will be gone come next summer and will be motivated to trade him for the best available offer.

Our main competition would be the Nets and Knicks.

Nets trade Derrick Favors, Terrence Williams, Chris Humphries and a future #1 for Melo

Knicks trade Curry, Gallo, Chandler, Douglas, Walker and a future #1 for Melo and J.R. Smith

Lakers trade Bynum, Vujacic and a future #1 for Melo
OR
Lakers trade Bynum, Odom and Artest for Melo and Nene

I personally think Mitch will be on the phone for this one. The Lakers are sitting out the Lebron sweepstakes even though they could try and convince Lebron to force a S&T for Bynum and the cavs would reluctantly agree to such. Why? Because Kobe and Lebron are basketball enemies. I don't care if they worked well together on Team USA, they see each other as threats. Lebron wouldn't want to win a title on "Kobe's Lakers" and Kobe probably wouldn't want to even help Lebron get his first title, nor would he want to become the second fiddle again, which would happen inevitably. However, Carmelo Anthony is different.

Kobe genuinely likes Carmelo and looks at him like a little brother and friend. Carmelo, no matter how many points he scores would probably never get top billing above Kobe in LA. Carmelo also does not need the ball in his hands all the time to be effective. This megastar pairing would work fabulously!

If the Nuggets would go for the first trade, we could than throw the MLE at Shaq or even split the mle between a PG-C combo like Blake and Ilgauskas or Dampier who would back up Pau, with Odom starting at the 4.

If they would go for the second trade we would simply need a replacement for Odom and could get that by throwing the MLE at a player like Tyrus Thomas, Luis Scola or Udonis Haslem.

DO IT MITCH!

Melo isn't going anywhere but Denver.

Book it!
