planning to go to LA for holidays, where to stay?

Post#1 » by Waynelophoto » Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:34 am

Hey guys,

I am planning my trip to USA and LA will be one of my destinations. Can some of the LA residents tell me where I can stay and where to shop and what to eat?

My main reason to come to LA is to watch the lakers game, dine in the local restaurants, site seeing, and a bit of shopping.

Any suggestions on what to do and stuffs like that is greatly appreciated! It'll be my first time to USA btw!

Wow, L.A. is so spread out. I think you are in for a suprise that there is really no central location. We do have downtown but beside L.A. Live and Staples there isn't much else to see. May want to stay near the Beach Cities in the South Bay, Santa Monica Hollywood etc. What months are you planning to arrive, interested in nightlife, type of shopping (souveniers, or Beverly Center, Rodeo Drive, Americana, Grove etc.)

You will need to rent a car as not sure if you would want to tackle public transportation. If you rent a car, you can experience L.A. traffic firsthand! LOL.

umm I am planning to go around after mid october this year.
I guess anywhere that's regarded as tourist attraction would be good since it'll be my first time to LA. The only building that I know that's located in LA that I've seen on tv is staples centre lol.

what's the night life there? is it mainly bars and clubs? I think bars would be nice.

And in terms of shopping, maybe a few souverniers and some casual clothings (jeans, tshirts, lakers gears) would be good :D

LAX Area

Glendale/ Burbank

Studio City

Best bet anything within Downtown LA or Hollywood too expensive. South of those areas to sketchy. Montebello has a few resort style golf and casino Motels that just opened up check there.

When in doubt Disney area hotels always have nice deals.
