Odd to see the highlight reel contained mostly of dunks, I didn't really get the impression he was really athletic from what I saw yesterday. He did look great running the offense, looked great distributing, and played some very in-your-face type defense. I definitely liked what I saw from him. Hopefully he continues to impress. A point the announcers made during the broadcast though was that he most likely isn't looking for a minimum contract type situation, since he can get far more then that while also starting over seas. So it looks like he's auditioning for other teams, since we can't offer him much money.

I watched Ibby play for two years at Penn when I was a med student there. The guy can play, hands down. 2x Ivy player of the year and he wasnt even trying in half the games.

I cant believe this guy might be on an NBA roster... thats awesome.

Overseas he will be heading. No spot for him in the NBA.

That makes sense. Still, surely the guy wants to make it in the nba, and possibly play for a chance at a bigger contract down the road? Too bad if he's going overseas, though. I really like the way he plays.

Is he related to Kareem in any way? Just wanted to ask since he's getting more attention here than a normal summer league pick up player.

Ibrahim Jaaber: How do you not pull for a two-time Ivy League Player of the Year who tweets Ralph Ellison: "I not only entered the music but descended, like Dante into its depths." The former roommate and teammate of Brandon Jennings is as passionate about his music as he is basketball.

BBarry mentioned, by the way Bones is a way cooler analyst than his brother, that Ibrahim may not play on an NBA roster for the minumum contract, he may just play in Europe for more scratch instead.

If it's short term $, sure, Europe makes more sense. If it's a chance to show people you can play in the NBA and parlay that into a much bigger opportunity and future $$ (a la Wesley Matthews), there is not a question he ought to take any offer the Lakers give him.

Since this UPenn Ivy Leaguer seems smarter than the average baller (who really knows if that degree actually means something), I would think he would take the latter option.

BTW, he does NOT play like farmar. As exciting as Farmer's occasional athleticism was, the guy was mule-headed, and really was a shooter's mind in a small point's body. Jaaber really seems like an athletic, pass-first PG. I'm only excited about him because it's been forever since we've had this type of PG. (I'm excited about Blake's pass first mentality even more, but that's a whole diff topic)

did you really just ask if a guy named JAABER is related to Kareem ABDUL-JABBAR? do i need to point out how absurd that is?
