The triangle is a bad fit for the type of player Chris Paul is. It will take him away from his strengths which is penetration and play making.

Not sure about it, if Chris goes to the Lakers, I think the Lakers will not win the champ, cause the chemistry is so good now

Bynum's length and size don't matter that much to me because he lacks good instincts on defense and moves like he's walking through mud most of the time anyway. He doesn't have the same explosion that he once did, and his injuries are a concern going forward. I don't think we lose much, if anything, by having Okafor instead of Bynum on defense. In fact, we probably get slightly better.

You're also ignoring what CP3 brings to the team. While I think he's an overrated defender, he's still one of the best PG defenders in the league. He's quick and can stay with faster guards that traditionally give us nightmares, and he's strong enough to cover guards slightly bigger than him. He plays passing lanes well and he's an excellent rebounder for his size. In short, our perimeter defense improves big time with CP3, and assuming that we lose something in the middle with Okafor instead of Bynum, we more than make up for it with Paul.

Offensively is where we see the biggest benefit though. CP3 can break down defenses like no one else on our team, so when we decide not to run the triangle (like, when Kobe goes out for extended periods) we can let him run a more up-tempo version like our bench used to. He can get to the basket and create great looks for others, and he's a very good shooter on top of that. The extra rest for Kobe allows him to become that much better defensively, and against guys like Wade (who we're sure to face eventually) that's is absolutely vital.

Anyway, I'd gladly do Bynum+Odom+Walton+Vujacic for Okafor+Posey+CP3.

Classic post of a Bynum hater. The way you make it sound he can't do anything right.

Big Game it's not like that. If this was Bynum for D Howard even I would be with that because Howard's offense (or lack thereof) wouldn't be needed on this team. His defensive excellence is what Drew is missing so it works out for both teams, but like I said earlier you don't trade Big for small.

That would be like trading this Image

Lakers were not even on his second list. And the first list we were not in the top 5.

Yeah guys the Lakers totally wouldn't adjust to having Chris Paul on the team, he would make the Lakers worse and he wouldn't be amazing anymore.

You guys need to realize the Lakers don't run the triangle 24/7 and this is Phil Jacksons last year with the Lakers, Chris Paul + Life after Phil = We're set.

The chances of Chris Paul and Shaq joining the lakers are about equally as likely as Lebron and Wade deciding Miami isn't a cool place for bball and deciding to take the veterans minimum and bringing their talents to Socal. ZERO.

Yes, there is ZERO chance of Shaq on the Lakers. Kobe wouldn't allow it, not a chance!

Theres no way we trade for CP3. I dont even know why so many fans want it. And Andrew Bynum has a beast future ahead of him.

To be honest Bynum's knee future looks bleak and even though I like the idea of not trading big for small, I think the future of having a legit All-Star while Kobe declines from his peak days is more secure with Paul. However long shot that we get him, but we seen wilder trades in the NBA. Anywayx this topic has been desected to death.

With the news that the Hornet will NOT be bullied by CP3 and will only do a trade that nets them them great talent and allows them to dump BOTH Okefor and Posey ... things have changed a lot and the Lakers are in great position to sign CP3.

The teams that are in it are the Lakers, Blazers and Mavs and that's it as the Magic don't have anything the Hornets would want and the Nets, while perhaps being able to offer the best deal (Favors, Williams, Lee, Harris) don't interest CP3.

Here are the offers I see coming the Hornets way ... the question is, which one will they choose ...

LAKERS TRADE: Bynum, Odom, Vujacic and picks OR Bynum, Artest, Vujacic and picks

HORNETS TRADE: CP3, Okefor and Posey

WHY IT MIGHT HAPPEN: The Hornets will understand Bynum is thee most valuable player they can get back for CP3 and that might be all that is needed to get this deal done. I think the Lakers would rather include Artest than Odom especially with the recent signing of Barnes, the acquisition of Posey in this deal and the drafting of Ebanks. Simply put, a PF like Odom will be more useful for them than a SF like Artest.

BLAZERS TRADE: Aldridge, Fernandez, Miller, Pryzbilla and picks

HORNETS TRADE: CP3, Okefor and Posey

WHY IT MIGHT HAPPEN: The Hornets will understand Aldridge is the second best player they can get in a trade, next to Bynum and Miller would be a great one year tutor for Darren Collison.

MAVS TRADE: Butler, Chandler, Beaubois, Jones, Mahinmi, cash and picks

HORNETS TRADE: CP3, Okefor and Posey

WHY IT MIGHT HAPPEN: I don`t see this trade happening as while Beaubois and Jones are talents they are sort of unnecessary with the similar Collison and Thornton already on board, and Chandler and Butler are nothing more than one year rentals.

BOBCATS TRADE: Wallace, Henderson, Agustin, Dampier and picks

HORNETS TRADE: CP3, Okefor and Posey

WHY IT MIGHT HAPPEN: The Hornets could do a lot worse than a threesome of Wallace, Henderson and Augustin along with the huge cap relief Dampier`s contract will bring .... but, Wallace is due some major money and I imagine the Hornets would rather have Odom and maybe even Artest ... and the HendersonéAugustin combo does not compare with an Andrew Bynum at all.

CP3 could easily be a Laker quite soon!

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
