**** the rookies! we need players that can ball now and produce right away.... besides ebanks is a forward, we need another guard

**** rookies? They're both making the team, so **** you

And funny how you're not even a rookie yet on Realgm.

Jokes aside all indications point toward we're signing Ebanks and Caracter. If you haven't noticed we have only 4 bigs...we're gonna need that rookie. And we have enough roster space to sign two more free agents.

what the **** does that matter i still say it how it is. your an **** idiot of course both rookies are making the team i never said they werent. all i said was i want proven ballers to be on the court when it matters. the only time i want ebanks to see the floor is when we're up 20+ playing aganist a scrub team.

 I love guys who say it how it is.

Proven ballers? Just because a guy has been in the league doesn't mean he's proven ****. If Larry Hughes has proven anything early in his career, he has disproved it since. He's proven he's not that player anymore, shooting a whopping 32% last year while taking 7.6 FGAs a game. With his 2.4 FTAs that's what? about 9 possessions at less than a 3rd success? Yeah he's proven he's a chucker.

Give me a player, Ebanks or Character whose time hasn't past and who will know their role.

We've got guys like Fisher, Ratliff, Artest...we need athleticism to fill in those minutes. Youth. We have real PROVEN vets on this team.

It's time for some young bucks too.

Pass.

This is just the obligatory free agent ploy, when trying to get a deal, make everyone think the Lakers are trying to get you, and teams will move quicker to keep you away from them. I think we've seen it with how many free agents this summer? LOL

Actually, Larry's style of play is more conducive to a team that plays a fast pace.

 i know i wanted to edit it once i read it back. **** it though

as far as hughes is concern i perfer shannon brown, the guy already knows his role, knows the systems and knows his teammates. Ebanks im sure will be a good to border line great role player but i want people with already basketball experience to handle the bulk of the mins. i dont like when people say we should throw ebanks out there so we can developed him faster. Theres no way a rookie will have what it takes to help us right off the batt and especially in the playoffs. Thats why i think its vital we get brown for that fifth guard off the bench. i just dont see the rookies getting that much burn this year, maybe characters alittle more

Whoever said that Hughes is a good defender is mistaken. Yes, he lead the league in steals but he gambled like none other. You watch Kobe gamble all the time and get burnt, wait until you see Hughes' gambling.

I can't remember if it was in Golden State, or Philly, or.... wherever. But it seems like yesterday that Larry Hughes was a big name guard to have. Maybe not to casual fans, but he had a good buzz.

Fantasy geeks used to always mention his SPG stats and every team board here would have had a thread about him if he hit the FA market.

I say let Miami have him, along with Marbury, T-Mac, and Iverson.

Hughes is a combo guard, which Jackson likes. However, his natural instinct is to attack as opposed to facilitate. That works against him. The Lakers need facilitators more than scorers right now.

screw this guy, lol

we are starting to get really old and we are almost the oldest team in the league

we need to start looking for young talent, hopefully ebanks and caracter become solid players

what's frustrating about him is that he has great, yes, GREAT court vision and is a very good passer ala JKidd or Steve Nash (yep, that good), but he always looks to score. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

he is a great facilitator, IF HE WANTS TO.

Larry Hughes is not a scorer either. He plays the game with a scorer mentality but he can't actually put the ball in the hole to be an actual scorer.

He can score pretty well. I remember he was a pathetic outside shooter when he came into the league. Then, he stepped it up. Nonetheless, though, he's not a good fit for the Lakers.

Hughes isn't what we need as a 5th guard. I'm also at the point with the additions of Barnes and Blake I don't even think Brown is the 5th guard we need. I'm leaning more in the direction of Mason Jr or Delonte West. More so Mason Jr because West's bi-polar issues are very concerning. Character and Ebanks will both be on the roster. Ebanks will be the 3rd SF with Luke likely out for season. Character reminds me a lot of Blair from the Spurs. I think he could give quality minutes and will shock a lot of people.

Fisher/Blake
Kobe/Mason Jr/Sasha
Arrest/Barnes/Ebanks
Gasol/Odom/Character
Bynum/Ratliff

With Walton on IR for season.

I wouldn't touch West with a stick. He's got some mental issues that he needs to work out first. You don't want to sign a guy that might not always be there.
