Favortie Laker seasons from '00-10'

Post#1 » by iamreggiepaige » Sun Aug 8, 2010 3:28 pm

What is your top 3 favorite Laker seasons from 2000-2010

Mine are easy

1. 01-02

Playoffs were memorable.1st round against Portland remember Ruben Patterson deemed himself "The Kobe Stopper"

2nd round Kobe threw that pass which he wanted to shoot and traveled and we lost Game 2 at home and Kobe redeemed himself in San Antonio with that putback layup over The Admiral

Kings series, well u already know about that :)

2. 07-08

Ever think about how funny that year was? we werent even chosen in many peoples circles to make the playoffs and every thing changed with 2 trades for, Ariza ,then Tha infamous Pau "Robbery"
I just wish we would of won that year, what a dream season that would have been smh
I highly reccomend you youtube Game 5 of the jazz series and have fun..best game of the playoffs!!!

3. 08-09/09-10

Hard to choose from these two but on competition I choose 08-09, The Rockets put up a hell of a fight and had many of us scared to death on that Sunday afternoon of Game 7, imagine if we lost that game ending the season before to the celtics then that year vs the less talented Rockets. Kobe would Have the McGrady card of not being able to carry a team. The Denver series had to be the Best series of this 2000-2010 discussion besides the 02' Kings series and 10' Celtics series.
which ultimately ended up in another Lakers Championship :D

This is a hard one because every time you win a ring that is a great season.

1. 2009/10 Just love to win against Boston in the Finals
2. 1999/00 Just get a ring after a long wait and game 7 against Portland was great
3. 2000/01 The Best playoffs and the best team, great series against Spurs
4. 2008/09 Great season. With Kobe wining a ring after all that Shaq talk
5. 2001/02 Three peak at a epic series against Kings(Wining away in game 7 in OT).

I've never been more excited for a Lakers season than I am for the upcoming one, based off of our new recruits.

I think in 1996 when we go Shaq(and some young player name Kobe that many said would be a good player) i was most excited. We had just been a solid team but no contender and with Shaq on board we were a contender again and that was great.

My favorite year will also be next year. Last year and the other years are over. I will say the same thing next year. I love to go forward, not back.

2001 has got to be first. Kobe and Shaq had their best overall chemistry that season, and 15-1 proved it, even if we dogged it through the first chunk of the season.

Next would have to be 2008, even with the loss in the finals the acquisition of Pau, emergence of Drew, and Kobe winning his first MVP after being stiffed 2 years in a row (in favor of Dirk and Nash for crying out loud) made it a worthwhile year. Especially since I knew we had '09 locked up.

Third would be 2000, beginning of the triangle and ending our championship drought. That finals against Indy was also (easily) my favorite amongst the first 3-peat, especially on the heels of knocking out Portland.

Then 2002, 2009, 2010, in that order, for obvious reasons. 8-)

All are held closely to the heart, but I must admit there is nothing sweeter than beating the Celtics on the other end of it.

I remember when everyone went crazy and started crowning us the championship when Payton and Malone signed with us. That was the most disappointing season for me as a Laker fan

PG: Payton
SG: Bryant
PF: Malone
C: O'neal
SF: GEORGE

:rocking:

everyone gave us the championship much like everyone is giving the heat the title now that bosh, wade and bron are together.... so hopefully the heat turn out much like we did in 03-04.

fav has gotta be kobe's mvp season... 61 at MSG... .that just reminded me of how unstoppable kobe can be at times.

00-01: Team was in disarray, everyone was predicting doom, Kobe and Shaq couldn't get along. Then Fish came back from a year long injury and they had one of the greatest runs in NBA history. Shaq and Kobe eviscerated the league in the playoffs. Fish shot 75% from the 3 in the San Antonio series. Good times.

09-10: Coincidentally, pretty similar to 00-01 (sans the dominant playoff run). Up and down season followed by "hitting the switch".

07-08: Bynum blossoming into a beast (people forget they were one of the best teams in the league pre-Bynum injury), the Gasol steal, and a fun MVP duel between Kobe and Chris Paul.
