Washington vs Lakers 2003

Post#1 » by LAKERS_1981 » Tue Aug 10, 2010 9:42 pm

I was watching this game and i show that with 4:30 left in the 2Q Kobe had 40 pts 14/16 FG and 8/9 3pt. He was just on fire in the first half.
I think he did play this well because this was the last time he would play against Jordan and he know this. (Jordan had a good game to).
Man i would love to see Prime Jordan vs Prime Kobe. Not the 96-98 Jordan against 17-19 years old kobe. or that old Washington Jordan vs near prime Kobe.
I think it would be epic like Wilt vs Russel or Magic vs Bird.

This is not KOBE VS JORDAN GOAT thred. This is two players how love to play hard and would kill to get a win.

I think Jordan is better because... just kidding.^^

Yeah, I really feel like prime MJ vs. prime Kobe would be the ultimate individual matchup to watch.

I also wish there was a way to watch those old games today... (I mean in Europe).
I missed the Showtime era and that makes me sad, but I feel better when I realize I witnessed the Shaq-Kobe 3-peat and the team we have now! =)

I know, I loved that game, I think Kobe had like 46 and sat out the entire second half. He def played this well because he was battling the G.O.A.T and Jordan gave his best shot right back. Great game although I would never use this in a debate of why I think Kobe is better than Jordan (because I actually do think so) Because it could have just as easily been a Lebron type player trying to knock the crown off a declining Kobe. Which I think we will see once Kobe really starts to lose it. They'll be Brandon Roy's and Even O.j Mayo's trying to give Kobe all they got.

I know a little off topic and you were not starting a debate, just got me thinking
“If this is his team, that means no more coming into camp fat/out of shape, no more blaming others for our team’s failure, my team doesn’t mean only when we win it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy.”

Well. He started to miss shoots and had 14/19 fg and 42 pts in the first half. But he did finish with 55 pts so he was solid.

My girlfriend at the time was a huge MJ fan, and she used to always say that she wanted to see him dunk live before he retired.

I took her to that game, and seeing kobe do what he did was just amazing. I was also at the robert horry buzzer beater vs sac game, and honestly that game vs the wiz was right up there with it, if for no other reason than because of the historical significance of the two players.

We did get to see MJ dunk (although it really looked like he might get rejected by the rim). But it was still awesome.

When we left the game, she was a Kobe fan.

this turned ugly...

once a real time machine is invented, let's take the prime Kobe back in 1998! :D

man, that'd be sweet... like the MJs battling in the Gatorade commercial (Tar Heel, Bull, Wizard, post-retirement).

i was always a big fan of 'passing the torch' games.
that game was one of them.
i mean there s a lot of mj games where they got named like 'flu game' and others, and this particular game will go as 'goodbye mj,hello kobe' always in my eyes.
he scored 42 in the first half, you can see that in mj s eyes 'yeah this is the kid who ask me once how should i feel the defence in the post'
that game was special not just about numbers but with that performance, you can see that the game was just too easy for that kid...
since that point i always believed kobe was the clear cut leagues/worlds best player.
our guy is getting old now but he still holds the torch.
and hopefully he will still keep it for a long time.
